It was just an average Monday night in July 2019 at Summit Worship Center. Except that it wasn't. Kalista and John had both been serving on Summit's Worship team for a few years, but hadn't yet had the chance to meet. John volunteered with the kid's ministry and Kalista was on the worship team. That evening, when they sat next to each other, something shifted. They were immediately drawn to the joy in each other. The conversation between them was easy and light. Needless to say, they hit it off immediately. John shot his shot and got Kalista's number that evening to "text her about writing worship songs". A LIKELY STORY. However, their friendship blossomed almost immediately into something undeniably tangible. God had already orchestrated their love story to perfection. John began inviting himself over to Kalista's family events, and patiently waited for God to open the door for something more. John sought God and asked his friends what he should do. Someone encouraged John and said "Just shoot your shot John! You never know. She might say yes to a date!" John called Kalista on a break from his class and spilled his feelings out for 30 seconds and immediately hung up the phone. Kalista already knew how she felt. Within a few weeks, Kalista and John began courting. They had their first date on Friday, September 13th, 2019. Even before their date, they both knew that the other was the one they'd been waiting for. On June 14th, 2020, John proposed to Kalista where they had their first date - Blue Hole Park in Georgetown, Texas. We eloped on September 13, 2020 - exactly one year from our first date and will celebrate with a big wedding on November 19th, 2021!

John and I decided long ago that we were ready to start our new journey together. We were planning on announcing a November 2020 wedding date but realized it wouldn't be safe or realistic to plan a wedding that soon due to COVID-19. So, after a considerable amount of prayer and seeking counsel, John and I made the decision to hold a small elopement ceremony in my Grandma Fran's back yard on September 13th, 2020 -- exactly one year after our first date. Our elopement ceremony was beautiful and intimate with just a handful of our family members in attendance. My dad, Jamie, was able to call and give me away and we were married in the sight of our Savior at 6:45 pm. John and I have sinced moved to Cedar Park and are waiting to celebrate with a large wedding ceremony and reception with you all on November 19th, 2021.
