The name says it all. If you're looking for authentic southern fried chicken, this is the place for you. For all my Midwestern friends and family, be warned, this chicken is a bit spicy!
We'll be having real Memphis barbecue at our reception, but if you're craving more, One & Only is our #1. John's favorite is the BBQ quesadilla.
Babalu may be known for their tacos and tapas, but we go for the Baba burger and guacamole. Warning: It can be a little loud if you go during prime time.
This is Jordyn's favorite brunch shop. September will be a great time to sit out on the patio and enjoy the warm weather while you eat.
The Lorraine motel is the site of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassination in 1968 after he traveled to Memphis in support of a sanitation workers' strike. The hotel has been turned into a civil rights museum and offers an eyeopening, humbling experience for many of us that weren't raised in the south.
For all the animal lovers out there. Some of our favorites from the Memphis Zoo include the pandas, the sea lion show, feeding the giraffes, and the hippo exhibit.
We love Shelby Farms Park! It's a 4,500 acre park that includes a massive dog park where we love to take Merlin (Albie prefers snuggling on the couch to playing at the park). The dog park address is Raleigh Lagrange Rd.
No trip to Memphis is complete without a trip to the Bass Pro Pyramid. They've got live alligators, ducks, and a ton of fish. If you're not afraid of heights, take a ride to the top for awesome views of the city and the Mississippi.
For all you Elvis fans out there, Graceland is a must see.
Enjoy all the sights, sounds, and flavors of Memphis by taking a stroll on Beale Street. We recommend grabbing an adults only slushie at Wet Willy's or stopping by Silky O'Sullivan's to listen to some music and watch the goats. Just make sure to go in the daytime for safety purposes.
If you're looking for an adventure on your drive to or from Memphis, the Tennessee Safari Park is a blast! You get to drive through a park full of buffalo, ostrich, camels, and deer with a bucket of feed held out the window. You can also feed carrots to Jerry the giraffe (Jordyn's favorite). We stopped here with Jordyn's mom after our first visit to Memphis to apartment hunt and shared a ton of laughs and only a few screams of terror.
