I first saw John at a dorm-floor meeting held on the first day of our Freshman year at Green Mountain College in Poultney, VT. The minute I saw him and heard him speak, I could tell he was a kind-hearted soul and I wanted to get to know him . I was given that opportunity a few weeks later while at a late-night, dorm room party. I was so excited to see him there. After some time, I finally got up the courage to speak to him. We were deep in conversation when the party was suddenly interrupted by campus police. Everyone scattered. As we ran from the party, across the campus, John made sure that I was safe and by his side every step of the way. I knew that night (under the waxing crescent moon) that we were kindred spirits. We have been by each other's side ever since. We now live in Maryland on the Martinuk family farm, with our 4 dogs, 2 cats, and 13 chickens. I could not have conjured up a more perfect friend and husband. We chose Halloween as our wedding day because it has always been my favorite day of the year. We chose the Martinuk family farm for our venue because it has been in John's family for generations and it means so much to him to make it a part of our wedding story. We wanted our bonding ceremony to take place this Halloween, because there will be a full moon. A full moon on Halloween only happens every nineteen years. It is called a Halloween moon. To make the day even more rare, it will be the second full moon of the month, which is called a blue moon, because two full moons in the same month only happens “once in a blue moon”. We are so thrilled to share our unique and special moonlit wedding with our family and friends.
