We're frequent travelers to the UK, and we have found Norwegian to be the most comfortable economical airline. It's particularly convenient from Boston, as there is a direct flight to Gatwick. There are return flights available for the week of the wedding for under $600 return, and Norwegian offers a la carte booking - you can add luggage or meals if you prefer, but are not obligated to do so.

WOW Air seems to have the least expensive flights from Pittsburgh to London. Be aware that the cheap flights don't even allow for a carry-on - only a small handbag. We've had mixed experiences with WOW. But if you're looking for a no-frills, cheap transatlantic flight, this is the way to go from Pittsburgh!

Travel Note
Bus/coach journeys to Cambridge: direct buses go from all major airports to Cambridge City Center. From Gatwick they take nearly 4 hours; from Heathrow 2'30" to 3 hours. They also offer Senior Citizen rates for the over 60s. There are no direct trains from the airports to Cambridge, and from Gatwick and Heathrow you have to take a train to London, a tube across town, and a train to Cambridge. This means that the overall journey is not likely to be quicker than a bus.
Train
The train from Gatwick Airport to Cambridge takes just about two hours, and involves two changes. The cost is about £24 for a return ticket.
Train
The train from Heathrow Airport to Cambridge takes just over two hours, and involves one or two changes. The cost is about £30 for a return ticket.
