Question

Where's the formal invitation, and how do I RSVP?

Answer

Great question! We're working on gathering snail-mail addresses so we can get the paper invitations in the mail. They're printed and on their way to us! Please help us out by responding to the email we sent asking for your updated address if you haven't already. You don't need to wait for the paper invitation to RSVP. If the RSVP function works here on the wedding website when you put in your name, you're invited, you're on the A-list, and you're getting that paper invitation soon. Because we are on the move all Summer, with no fixed address, we are not sending out RSVP cards. We would greatly appreciate RSVPs to our wedding here on the website. We won't be in Texas, or Boston, or Pittsburgh to collect mailed responses. We know this seems informal and we apologize - but - technology to the rescue! If you are having trouble figuring out the way that works, give one of us a ring and we'll enter your RSVP for you. Thank you for bearing with us on this one!

Question

When's everyone arriving?

Answer

We will be in Cambridge from Sunday the 29th of July until we escape for our honeymoon on Sunday the 5th of August. We have planned one event per day from Tuesday-Saturday which will be touristy, fun, informal, and a good way to socialize with our friends and family. Join us for whatever you like.

Question

Kids?

Answer

We have three children who will be at the wedding - our sons Tristan who is 13, Jonathan who is 12, and Peregrine who is 8. We have friends with kids about those ages too, and they are totally welcome to join us at the wedding. We're not having a sit-down dinner. We are planning to rent some college punts for kids and grown-up-kids alike to have fun with. Very small children might be less fun to bring - the river is very close by, and we are not providing child care.

Question

What to wear?

Answer

Several people have asked this. In a perfect world, we'd have had an afternoon garden-party type of wedding, but since King's Chapel is open to the public during the day, we had a choice of 10am (and if you've met John, you know why we didn't pick this option!) or 5pm. So, yes it's an evening wedding, but with an afternoon feel. Gwen's wearing a not-white tea length dress, John's likely to wear a suit with a fabulous waistcoat. Our boys all want to wear tailcoats and top hats, and why not? We're not imposing matchy-matchy dresses on the bridal party - they're wearing whatever they please. So - come in something you love. If you're always looking for a chance to go all out, by all means, do! All the Americans want to wear hats and fascinators because they can't do that at home for weddings! We don't mind what your outfit is - we're just glad you'll be with us, wearing a smile.
