Question

What's the dress code?

Answer

Black tie optional, with suits for the guys (and the ladies too if you want!) Both the ceremony and reception are indoors. If it helps- the vibe is “Old Hollywood” - think elegant and classic. If that doesn’t help, just wear something you feel gorgeous and comfortable in!

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

We love your kids! This event is adults only though.

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

Absolutely!

Question

Do you have a wedding hashtag?

Answer

#TeamJohmilyForever

Question

Are there any reserved hotel rooms?

Answer

We have a block of rooms at the Grand Hyatt downtown. Please use this link to book before April 10- https://www.hyatt.com/en-US/group-booking/WASGH/G-WSWB

Question

I'm so excited to take photos of everything!

Answer

We're glad to hear that! But please, no photos during the ceremony. You're good to take them any other time!

Question

Why no photos at the ceremony?

Answer

A few reasons! We want everyone to be present and in the moment. The Catholic mass provides ample time for reflection. Even for non-Catholics, the service can be a beautiful meditation on love and life, and we want to share that with you. In addition- we have hired some wonderful photographers, but they have to stay in the back of the church. They've assured us they can still capture the special moments, but let's be real, it's a little more difficult! Unfortunately, we know of numerous cases (especially in church weddings) where a photographer is all ready to capture the first kiss- and instead takes a photo of a phone someone has stuck out in the aisle in an attempt to get their own photo. Or where a photographer takes a shot of the groom and bride walking down the aisle, and instead of being surrounded by their loved ones, they are surrounded by iPhones. Please help make our photographer's day a little easier - we promise to share their photos online with you! And we will be happy to take a photo with you at the reception!

Question

Why the National Press Club?

Answer

John has an "in" with the Club's president.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Yes! The Press Club is able to accommodate dietary restrictions. Please let us know how to best accommodate you when you RSVP. We also have a vegetarian/vegan option.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

While there is street parking around the church and parking garages near the National Press Club, we will be providing transit from the Grand Hyatt to the Church and from the Church to the Press Club. You can also Uber or Lyft, or take the blue/orange/silver lines from Metro Center to Capitol South, which is about one block from St. Peter’s.

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about?

Answer

Yes! We’ll be grabbing a drink and have some snacks at Astro Beer Hall just a few blocks from the hotel. (1306 G Street NW.)

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

We will begin promptly at 2:30pm as we must be out of the church by 4pm. Please arrive around 2-2:15pm to grab a seat.

For all the days along the way
