When their parents brought a newborn Caitlin home in '99, Lexie couldn't wait to throw a stuffed animal straight into Caitlin's face. Luckily they've come a long way since then, even going to college across the country together where they shared the same major, multiple classes, and hung out every weekend.

Thomas (he/him) and John met freshman year of college, and they remained best friends throughout their time at Grinnell. Though they no longer live in the same place, they still talk constantly. In fact, if you hear John having what sounds like a flirty conversation on the phone it might be with Lexie -- but it's probably with Thomas.
Anna Whittell

Anna (they/them) has been Lexie's best friend and bonus sibling ever since they met in Preschool in 2001! Anna and Lexie were instant bffs, dubbing themselves "Annexie" - a name they would go on to get in lots of trouble for both writing on all their assignments in elementary school.
Brad Cohen

Brad (he/him) is one of John's oldest friends. They met the first day of middle school, and stayed best friends throughout middle and high school. Then Brad coincidentally went to college with Lexie, so when John visited, he got to see Brad too! All three remain super close and love spending time together when Brad is in town.
Genna Whittell

Genna (they/she) is Anna's little sibling and Caitlin's best friend -- so Lexie gets to claim Genna as both another little sibling and another best friend! Lexie may have grown up picking on Genna like a little sibling (out of love!), but adulthood has made them closer than ever.
Joseph Knopke

Joseph (he/him) is one of John's best friends from Grinnell, and the person John credits with introducing him to Kansas City BBQ. When Joe spent a summer in LA during college he helped with a cookout in John's parents' backyard, and it was so good that it became a tradition!
Kelsey Allen-Niesen

Kelsey (she/her) and Lexie met and became best friends on the middle school dance team, and have only grown closer since. Kelsey was actually the first person Lexie told she had a crush on John when they were 16. Kelsey's response? She just smirked and said "I know."
Ethan Trokie

Ethan (he/him) and John met when Ethan started dating Lexie's friend Kelsey. Years later, they all remain each others' go-to double date! When they're not with the girls, you can catch John and Ethan trying to prove who is better at smash brothers - a topic we won't touch here.

Alex (she/her) is Lexie's best friend from her competitive dance days! Years later, they still always find something fun to do - from roadtripping to Coachella, to an impromptu girls trip to Cabo, to just sitting on the couch with one of the 4 cats they have between them!
Lukas Resch

Lukas (he/they) is one of John's best friends from college. They were always close, but their friendship grew junior year with a (maybe not so) healthy competition in racketball. Lukas is another Californian, and it's always a great time when he makes the drive down to visit!
Emily Manis

Emily (she/her) and Lexie decided to be college roommates because they wore the same size and wanted to get double the wardrobe for a year. They didn't know at the time that they were also getting a best friend for life! They live across the country now, but visit as much as they can.
Patrick McHale

Patrick (he/him) and John lived on the same floor of their dorm building freshman year of college! They were fast friends, bonding over things like their shared love of good cheeses and video games. They remained close all four years of school and beyond into adult life!

Sarah (she/her) and Lexie transferred to Wesleyan the same semester and became instant best friends. Over the years they've stayed at each others family homes, been on each others family vacations, and now they are even planning their weddings at the same time!

Lucas (he/him) is one of John's closest friends from high school! They stayed close throughout college despite going to school states away from one another, and they are lucky to have both ended up back in LA post-graduation - so now they can hang out as much as they want again!
