Picnic Casual
The wedding ceremony and reception will be combined into one long picnic in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, in a wide lawn surrounded by tall trees. Guests are encouraged to wear casual clothes of any type and "bring your own" blanket! 11:00am - 12:00pm: Guests arrive and find seating 12:00pm - 1:00pm: Ceremony 1:00pm - 2:00pm: Reception 2:00pm - 5:00pm: Extended reception During the 1 hour prior to the ceremony, as guests arrive, there will be light refreshments. The ceremony area will have ~90 chairs and a separate area for picnic blankets. Guests can freely choose where to sit in the hour beforehand. Lunch food starts at 1pm: salads, fruit stand, hot dogs, sandwiches, drinks, snacks, and desserts. There will be lawn games, board/card games, a children's area, and ample umbrellas and shade throughout the day.

The wedding afterparty will be informally hosted by John and Nina's "home bar" in San Francisco: Madrone Art Bar. John has performed there countless times, and both the staff and many of the regular customers are considered family by the bride and groom. When John and Nina met, John was living 4 blocks away. The wedding is on the Sunday before a federal holiday, which means that on the night of the wedding, Madrone Art Bar will be throwing their standard "holiday weekend" DJ session hosted by Local 500, a San Francisco DJ collective. With the staff's blessing, John and Nina are declaring this the site of the wedding afterparty, with all wedding guests duly invited. There is a wide outdoor area for conversation and drinks. NOTE: this will be a no-host bar. We will all be hanging out with the regulars :)
