Old Salem Museums & Gardens
We go walking in Old Salem every week. Old Salem is an incredible area that is wholly unique in America and a lovely place to explore. The museums and shops are open Wed-Sat, 12-2, but you can walk through the area at any time!
Lesser-Known Beer Company
Lesser-Known (LK) is, hands-down, our favorite thing about our neighborhood and, arguably, Winston. The people behind LK are incredibly wonderful, kind, and delightfully passionate about their craft -- lesser-known beers. Stop by for what might be the best beer you've ever had!
West Salem Public House
West Salem Public House is a local coffeeshop by day and a public house at night!
Camino Bakery - Brookstown
Camino Bakery is *the* coffeeshop in Winston. With two locations, you've bound to find some treats and drinks that will satisfy you.
Kaleideum Downtown
For those of y'all with kids, you must check out Kaleideum! Kaleideum is an interactive museum and science center. While the North location has a planetarium (!!), the downtown location offers a climbing lobby, enchanted forest, and backstage theatre where kids can make puppets and perform their own shows!
Pilot Mountain State Park
Pilot Mountain is a great hiking area that is only 35 minutes from West Salem.
Hanging Rock State Park Visitor Center
Hanging Rock is one of Jo's favorite places to go hiking. Only a 45 minute drive from West Salem, it offers some lovely views and has options for all hiking skills and interests!
