Ledyard Canoe Club
This is notoriously where Johanna's dad lived for a semester in college! And also where you can rent canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, etc and go explore the Connecticut River. Bring a bathing suit! There are lots of little islands around. Maybe you can even paddle all the way to Johanna's house.
Smarts Mountain Trailhead
Smarts is a day hike for the average hiker but there are a couple bail out spots if you're looking for something shorter. Have fun and we'd be remiss not to tell you to bring your sunscreen (Colleen also says to bring the bugspray). Just check out the other mountains around -- there's lots to hike and we're right on the Appalachian Trail.
Dan & Whit's General Store
The motto is "If we don't have it, you don't need it!"-- and they're serious. This is part museum, part pitstop for any of your needs -- may it be a screwdriver, socks, or an ice cream.
Cedar Circle Farm & Education Center
Just up the river from Johanna's parent's house, you can go pick your own blueberries or flowers. And there's a cafe, too!
Hood Museum of Art
Need a break from the outdoor activities? Go check out this great little museum at Dartmouth College. Colleen would always take Johanna as a kid to eat french fries at the Hop's cafeteria with all the college students. You can go through the museum and then a stroll down Main Street in Hanover.
Lyme Country Store
Best creemee's (soft serve) in town! Colleen confirms that it is On The List of Best Soft Serve in VT/NH/ME. Also an adorable downtown to check out.
Harpoon Brewery Taproom and Beer Garden
This brewery is close to the venue and has some great beers. Go for a bike in the Windsor area and then grab a beer. There's also a distillery on site! Or check out the Path of Life-- a sculpture garden-- after a couple of brews.
Norwich Farmers Market
If you're around on Saturday, stop by the Norwich Farmer's Market. Lots of local farms, artisans, and bakeries show up. Usually a bit of live music, too.
