Joey and Tammy had been living within a mile from each other for over a year before they finally met on Bumble in August of 2017. Dating quickly turned into a relationship and the two became inseparable. Tammy enjoyed Joey's sense of humor, easy-going demeanor and ambitious dreams. Joey appreciated Tammy's compassion, intelligence and fun-loving attitude. When Tammy got accepted into the physician assistant program at Chapman University, the two weathered a trying time but came out stronger than ever. They learned patience, understanding and generosity. These principles were further tested with the welcomed addition of a Corgi puppy, Pickles. Soon after, moving in together proved another challenge to their relationship that was met with tolerance, empathy and appreciation for each others' uniqueness. Through all the twists and turns of life, they found the importance of having a dependable, compassionate partner by their side for constant love, support and encouragement. Their love withstood 2 and a half years of various struggles, preparing them for a future together that will withstand everything else that life throws their way.
Tammy was completely surprised by Joey's proposal on November 16, 2019. Their roommate, Jacob Card, helped Joey plan the night's events. They first went to Tammy and Joey's favorite bar, The Bungalow in Huntington Beach, in the afternoon. After sharing some drinks and fun stories, they headed to their favorite restaurant, Twenty Five Degrees. Before heading there, Jacob slyly suggested walking down the Huntington Beach pier. Once at the very edge of the HB pier, surrounded by water, Joey got down on one knee and asked Tammy to marry him. She exclaimed, "YES!" Jacob, the best man, and the newly engaged couple, dined and celebrated at Twenty Five Degrees before heading home to watch "My Big Fat Greek Wedding."
