Things To Do

Whitewater Center

5000 Whitewater Center Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28214

This is where Beau took Joey on their first date!! An absolute Charlotte staple and unlike anything else. You can go full adventure mode (whitewater rafting, zip-lining, climbing, trail running, mountain biking) or just hang on the massive outdoor deck overlooking the rapids with a drink and live music. It’s lively, social, and very “Charlotte.” Even if you don’t plan to do an activity, it’s worth going just to soak in the atmosphere. Plan for a 25-30 mins drive from any hotel on our Where To Stay page.

Discovery Place Science

168 West 6th Street, Charlotte, NC 28202

If the Welcome Party sparks your interest you may want to return on Saturday to enjoy more of the fun! Think interactive exhibits, cool installations, and an easy, low-pressure way to fill an hour or two. Great for groups, if you need a daytime activity, or want something engaging but not exhausting between wedding events. This is less than 5 minute walk from any hotel on our Where To Stay page.

The Mint Museum – Uptown

500 South Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC 28202

The 10 minute walk here from any hotel on our Where To Stay page is a great way to experience Uptown! And, this museum is one of the first places Joey visited when arriving in Charlotte. A beautiful modern art museum in the heart of Uptown with rotating exhibitions, design-forward galleries, and a calm, polished vibe. It’s an easy walk from restaurants and bars, making it perfect to pair with lunch, coffee, or a cocktail. Even a quick visit feels special.

Atherton Mill

2000-2140 South Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203

A historic cotton mill turned modern retail and dining hub in South End. You’ll find local shops, casual food spots, and a lively neighborhood feel. Great for wandering, grabbing a bite, and getting a sense of Charlotte’s industrial-meets-modern character.

SouthPark Mall

4400 Sharon Road, Charlotte, NC 28211

Charlotte’s largest shopping mall, with a mix of luxury brands, familiar favorites, and great restaurants all in one area. It’s polished but approachable and a very easy way to spend a few hours browsing, grabbing lunch, or doing some serious retail therapy. Joey's been known to wander this mall for hours on a rainy Sunday.

Little Sugar Creek Greenway

101 Kings Drive, Charlotte, NC 28204

One of Joey and Beau's favorite places to walk Sully. A scenic walking and biking path that winds through the city and offers an easy way to get outside without leaving Charlotte. The Greenway is peaceful, well-maintained, and accessible from multiple neighborhoods, making it great for a morning walk, casual bike ride, or low-key break between events.

Charlotte Regional Farmers Market

1801 Yorkmont Road, Charlotte, NC 28217

One of the largest farmers markets in the Southeast and a favorite weekend stop for locals. Expect fresh produce, baked goods, flowers, and plenty of southern staples. Best visited in the morning — especially on Saturdays — for the full experience.

Leatherman Golf Learning Center

5845 South Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC 28217

Saturdays at the driving range are a great way to get in the Charlotte spirit!! A relaxed, modern golf practice facility that’s perfect for casual golfers or anyone who just wants to hit a few balls without committing to a full round. Low-key, approachable, and a fun way to sneak in some outdoor time. Plan for a 20-25 mins drive from any hotel on our Where To Stay page.
