It all began on the Boston College Plex pool deck in 2009, when Joey spotted Alanna coming out of the women's locker room for the first day of pre-season practice. They had a connection right away and got to know each other better through team weight lifting sessions and swim parties. That year on Valentine's Day, Joey bravely asked Alanna out on an off-campus date to Presto's Pizza in Cleveland Circle, making things official. After graduating in 2012, Joey accepted a job with Axon and moved to Scottsdale, AZ while Alanna finished senior year. This was the beginning of their long-distance relationship, where they always made it a priority to visit each other as often as possible. In 2013, Alanna graduated and accepted a job with Cigna in Nashville, TN (a time zone closer to Arizona!). Their long-distance continued as Joey was then transferred to Seattle, WA. After 3.5 years of long-distance trips and countless facetime calls, Alanna was able to transfer to Seattle in 2016 to start building their lives together in the Pacific Northwest. On July 3, 2019 Joey proposed during a walk on the beach down the Cape - their favorite place to visit each summer. When they returned from the beach, Alanna was surprised again to see her family and friends waiting at Joey's parent's house to celebrate. After over a decade together, they can't wait to make it official and celebrate with family and friends in the city they have grown to love!
