FAQs

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

Please look at the travel page for discounts, and hotel suggestions! There is a full array of options for every budget. Otherwise, we highly suggest looking for VRBOs, Airbnbs, or even camping! Camping can be done in the Telluride Town Park (we highly suggest booking far in advance). Please call the Telluride Visitor's Center for more information: (970) 369-2100

Question

What airport should I fly into?

Answer

We recommend flying into Montrose Regional Airport (1.5 hour drive), and taking a shuttle (such as Mountain Limo or Telluride Shuttle) to Telluride. You may also fly into Grand Junction Regional Airport (2.5 hour drive), but the drive is longer.

Question

Can I drive into town?

Answer

Absolutely! Make sure that your hotel has parking or you are able to street park. You may call the hotel in advance to inquire about parking. Driving from Denver is about 7-8 hours, and the drive from Southern California is around 13 hours.

Question

I'm driving from Denver or Southern California- can I carpool with someone?

Answer

If you are driving from far away, and are not familiar with other invitees to the wedding, please contact Joey or Shelby for more details.

Question

Will your wedding accommodate dietary restrictions?

Answer

We are going to do our very best to have a wonderful range of food for everyone! Our cuisine will be Mexican food, served buffet style- get ready to eat!

Question

Is your wedding BYOB?

Answer

Heck, no! We will have a selection of beer and wine for guests. Watch the altitude friends, you will get tipsier much faster at high elevation. Telluride is 8,750 feet above sea level, so make sure to hydrate before/during/after drinking.

Question

What should I do if I get altitude sickness?

Answer

Drink lots of water during travel and when you arrive to ensure you are well hydrated. If you feel sick, please visit the Sunshine Pharmacy on Main Street, and have them help you with options for your sickness, or go to the town's one of many oxygen bars.

Question

Can I bring a guest?

Answer

If your invitation says “and Guest,” then yes, if not, we would prefer if it was just you.

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

While we love your kiddos, this will be an adults only wedding (21+ unless otherwise specified by the bride or groom). Please reach out to Annie's Nannies or Telluride Sitters if you need a babysitter for your child(ren).

Question

Can I do Telluride on a budget?

Answer

ABSOLUTELY! While Telluride is a luxury town, you will be able to find less expensive places to stay, and dine. We recommend the Mountainside Inn or Victorian Inn, or Airbnb for a more affordable stay. You can even give camping a go if you're up for an adventure! Baked in Telluride has great food for smaller prices. We also recommend coming with a plus one, or a friend who has also been invited, and splitting the cost for lodging and transportation. Airline prices can be on the steeper side, so if you're trying to keep the budget on the low, consider road-tripping.

Question

Do I have to rent a car if I fly?

Answer

Nope! Shelby highly recommends that you fly into Montrose Regional Airport and take Telluride Express or Mountain Limo. You will not need a car once in Telluride because the town is completely walkable. You should, however, rent a car or drive if you are staying in a stand alone home in Mountain Village that does not have walking access to Mountain Village gondola station.

Question

Will there be transportation to the wedding?

Answer

No. All of Telluride is walkable unless you are renting or staying in a stand alone home in Mountain Village (for which you will need a rental car).

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Our dress code is Mountain Formal. Ladies: We highly suggest you do not wear stiletto, skinny, or ultra-high heels. Telluride can be tough on shoes (mud, dirt, dust, etc.). Dresses, pantsuits, and skirt/top pairings are totally welcome! If you feel like wearing a sundress, go for it! Maxis are cool, too. The evenings in September can definitely be cooler, so if you want to throw on a jacket, don't shy away from wearing a jean or (p)leather jacket. If evening formal gowns are more your thing, you do you, but I can assure you that you'll stand out! Gents: If you want to wear a suit, or even a pair of nice jeans with a button up and sports coat, do it! Please, no tuxedos- the bride does not like tuxedos. We highly suggest you wear closed-toed shoes (no flip flops), as there can be lots of dirt and dust in Telluride.

Question

What is the weather like in Telluride in September?

Answer

Depends! Telluride can be a mixed bag. However, September typically brings what we refer to as an Indian summer- moderately warm temperatures, and sun during the day, with cooler evenings. We can only guesstimate what the weather will be like, but hoping for 60+ degrees with sun! Remember, Telluride is extremely dry, so temperatures will feel warmer than other places where humidity is present. Make sure to check the weather before packing for the trip.
