Flight
The closest airport to Sorrento is the Naples International Airport, located roughly 30 miles from the city center. From Naples, you can either take a bus, private transfer, or ferry to Sorrento City Center. Keep in mind that there are airlines that tend to offer low-cost flights to/from both Naples and Rome from other European cities.
Flight
Travelers can also fly into Rome Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport - Often a more affordable option because the airport is larger. There are non-stop flights from Boston to Rome available. Once in Rome, you will need to travel the rest of the way – about 180 miles – by bus, car or train. Keep in mind that there are airlines that tend to offer low-cost flights to/from both Naples and Rome.
Train
There are high speed trains that travel from Milan Florence and Rome, arriving in Naples train station. From the Naples Stazione Centrale Train Station: The Circumvesuviana is a commuter train along a main line that runs from Naples to Sorrento. The train usually runs on time, and is generally the fastest and cheapest way to reach Sorrento. The ride lasts about 1 hour and 10 minutes. Sorrento is the last stop along the line. [The commuter trains can get very crowded. Trains are not air conditioned]
Train
There are no direct trains that go from Rome to Sorrento, so if you aren't driving you will have to first take a train to Naples. There are trains going from Roma Termini to Napoli Centrale about twice an hour, but it can take you anywhere from 60 minutes to 3 hours depending on the train you pick. There are also high speed trains that travel from Milan Florence and Rome, arriving in Naples train station. Travel Note
From Naples International Airport: The Curreri bus departs from the Naples Capodichino airport terminal and arrives in Sorrento in a little over an hour. You can purchase your ticket on board. Buses run daily. The bus service is comfortable and safe; sit on the right side to enjoy the beautiful views of the Sorrentine peninsula along the way.
Travel Note
From Rome to Sorrento by Bus: If you are traveling to Sorrento from Rome, you can opt to take the Marozzi bus. The trip takes about 4 hours, but you are guaranteed a seat, there is space for storing luggage, and you don't have to change. Buses depart each day from the Roma Tiburtina train station at 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Travel Note
Getting to Sorrento by Sea is one of the most scenic and relaxing ways to reach Sorrento; by ferry from Naples. The Naples - Sorrento line is active all year long, and the routes depart from the Molo Beverello pier. There is a bus route [Alibus] to/from the Naples Airport to the Naples Ferry Port. The high speed ferry takes 40 minutes. To get to the port of Sorrento to the center of town, you need to climb a steep road or about 100 steps. There are buses and taxis which will take you uphill from the port. The ferry also connects Sorrento to Capri, Ischia, Amalfi, Positano and Naples for further adventure either before or after the wedding celebration.

We have a family friend that owns a car company on the Amalfi Coast. When we get closer to our scheduled date and guests flights are confirmed, we will do our best to set up a private transfer for flights landing at similar times from Naples or Rome airport (dependent on the majority).
