While the apps may overpower today’s dating scene, Sara and Joe were lucky enough to meet the old-fashioned way: at a bar. It was 2013 in Bethany Beach, and Big Peaches was the spot to be. Sara only visited Delaware in the summer and Joe lived there year round. However, the distance didn’t stop them from reconnecting down the road and starting their relationship in 2019. Joe would visit Sara at her studio apartment in Arlington, where they grabbed brunch at Ragtime and visited the big cats at the Smithsonian Zoo. Sara also took Summer Fridays from work to see Joe for longer weekends at the beach. Needless to say, life took an unexpected turn in 2020. That’s when Sara packed her things and moved into Joe’s house to embrace the beach lifestyle full time.
Joe popped the question at a secluded spot of Sara's favorite rooftop restaurant, with a beautiful view of the Ocean City skyline. The proposal took place just four days before Sara's 30th birthday, which Joe jokingly says he did so she could say she technically got engaged in her 20s. He also organized a surprise visit from her family later that weekend. Sara and Joe are very excited to make it official and can't wait to celebrate with all of you!
