Yes! If you’d like discounted rooms in Reykjavik or Akureyri, please contact haffi@pinkiceland.is. He is our wedding planner and is happy to help or answer any questions you have.
Please remember to use this link to sign up for excursions, the bus, and more. You must be on this list so we can get an accurate headcount and pricing. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13LfgLWJ2QEhVrCkAp6c_6pSG_wths3k8F3YEUNKCxc4/edit?usp=sharing
No, you can arrive in Iceland any time that works best for you. We just ask that you arrive in Reykjavik by Monday October 4th if you plan on taking the bus with us on October 5th or arrive in Akureyri by Wednesday October 6th (if you are booking your own transport).
We're hopeful to see them, yes! They should be out starting towards the end of September so they will be out, but actually seeing them will depend on weather and other conditions. No refunds for not seeing them. :)
Yes! Foreign nationals who visit Iceland must carry valid travel documents or identity cards that are accepted for border crossing. In order to be valid, a travel document or identity card, of non-EEA/EFTA citizens, must: be valid at least 3 months beyond the departure date and have been issued in the last 10 years.
Yes! 95% of all water in Iceland comes from springs in the ground, so it never comes in touch with any pollution. Unlike in many neighboring countries, the Icelandic water is free of chlorine, calcium, and nitrate. The quality of tap water in Reykjavík is well monitored, so drink up!
The monetary unit of Iceland is the Krona (ISK). As a method of payment, Icelanders use almost exclusively credit and debit cards. Thus credit and debit cards are accepted in most shops while foreign currencies are very rarely accepted in Iceland. If you'd like local currency, you will be able to withdraw money at any local ATM using your debit card.
No! Almost everyone (if not everyone) in Iceland speaks English as only Icelanders know Icelandic. They learn English very early and almost every place will have Icelandic and English (menus, signs, etc.)
Yes, the Reykjavík Capital Area is the country's largest and most populated city and currently home to 232.070 people (2019), that's two-thirds of the entire Icelandic population! There are plenty of shops, restaurants, sites, museums, and more! There are plenty of things to do in the capital city!
In Reykjavik, the average high in October is between low 40's to low 50's and the average low is between low 30's and mid 40's. In Akureyri, the temperatures may be slightly lower, but will be around the same.
You can join any or all of the optional tours we are setting up. The tours are to provide options for our guests but participate in what will give you the best time in Iceland!
Short answer is yes. However, no kids will be allowed at the wedding or at the reception due to the location. We are saving the transfer bus rides to and from the north as a priority for adults but if there is extra room your kids can join on the bus ride for the same cost. They can also join anything else on the trip at cost.
We suggest bringing another friend or family member along to watch them. Or we can inquire about hiring a service in Iceland.
We are keeping our wedding to a certain number of people. If you receive an invite just for yourself and you’d like to bring a date, reach out to us and we’ll see if it’s a possibility. If you’re interested in sharing a room with one of our guests let us know and we can put people in touch with each other.
Please RSVP by 5/15/21 or as close to it as possible. We understand that some won't be able to commit to that date, so as soon as you can let us know we appreciate it. We will need to have final numbers for the bus/restaurant/venue 3 months in advance at the latest. We want to invite as many as possible within our limits.
Although we’re getting married in a brewery, we’d still appreciate a semi-formal attire but it doesn’t have to be too fancy. And if semi-formal isn’t your thing feel free to dress in what will be most comfortable to you.
There will be a bus that will be providing transport to the brewery from Akureyri and back. The brewery is about a 15-20 minute drive or about 15 KM. If you haven't signed up for the bus or aren't interested in taking it to the north, we'll have to find alternate transport unless there's room on the bus.
Check out the schedule page to see the full itinerary on our travify document! Don't forget to sign up on the sign up sheet for excursions. We will also be adding events as we continue to plan, but we’ll ensure all of our guests have the options. https://travefy.com/trip/6yw9rqtsuhpwqz2aja7yzwtknmhgpyq
We hope so! If you do, let us know so we can communicate it to the restaurant.
Yes. The wedding and reception will be held at the same place which has a parking lot. We don’t recommend drinking and driving and will be hiring transportation to and from Akureyri.
