Megan’s Perspective

My friend Brittany was visiting from Orlando during my senior year and we decided to go out for a fun night on Rocky Top! While out, I was immediately drawn to the dance floor (something I definitely got from my mom). If there’s music playing, I will always find a way to dance. While on the dance floor, I realized that I was by myself and Brittany was nowhere to be found. So, not wanting to leave the dance floor, I went to find Brittany. There Brittany was, standing and talking to some boy. Little did I know that “some boy” would end up being the love of my life. I immediately grabbed Brittany and Joe and said, “Come on, y’all can’t just stand around while the music is on, you gotta dance!” So all three of us headed to the dance floor. While on the dance floor, “some boy” was trying to strike up a conversation with me and I was just not having it. I was just trying to dance! Later, Joe said his famous line that I will never let him forget, “You wanna go outside and talk?”. To which I quickly responded, “NO, I’m dancing.” And the rest is history, haha. Somehow, that night Joe got my phone number and over the next couple of weeks proceeded to message me and "attempt" to have a conversation. Poor Joey would probably say he was having a long conversation with someone that only replied with, “Yes”, “Okay”, “Cool”, “Good”. Finally, he convinced me to go out on a date. Thinking back now, I have realized just how special Joe is. He was never going to give up because he saw something special in me and knew that I was just shy when it came to dating. Joe ended up becoming my first ever boyfriend and would later become the man I am going to marry. Since the day I was born, my family prayed for a guy like Joe to come into my life. A man that would love me unconditionally, treat me like a princess, and be a strong man of God who would lead my future family. I am forever grateful to the Lord for sending me a man like Joe. Joe cherishes the ground that I walk on and always finds a way to put me first. There truly is no one like him. He has the softest heart and is always showing his love through the way he treats others. A guy that makes my little brother rice crispy treats because he knows they are his favorite, and a guy that takes the time to get to know my family. A guy that always brings my mom and both of my grandmothers flowers, and a guy that is always eager to lend a hand when my grandfather is trying to figure out how to work his phone. A guy that puts up with my dad when he is being hard on him, and a guy that calls me over thirty times each morning to make sure I wake up because he knows I’m such a deep sleeper that never hears my alarm. My dad is especially grateful because it used to be him. (This is no joke, I think Joe called me 109 times one day. He does get a break on the weekends though!) I could go on forever talking about Joe and how special he truly is but I’m afraid I would have to write a book. I am marrying a man that wants to see the world and truly live life with me! I think I am most excited to see Joe continue to grow in life because it seems like every day he just gets better and better. To see the father that he will become one day and the man that I will get to grow old with and spoil our precious grandchildren. It’s as if I want time to slow down with him but at the same time I am ready to experience all that life has to offer the both of us. Joe, I will forever love you and I am so happy to have you as my better half and my forever best friend. :)

Joe’s Perspective

I met Megan in February of 2022 during a night out with friends in college. Brittany Maddux, a dear friend of ours, was in town from Florida visiting Megan and introduced us to one another. Thanks again Brittany! By now I’m sure you’ve heard all about my (in)famous “Do you wanna go outside and talk?” line, so I won’t go there haha. As our time at UTK came to a close, Megan and I began our journey together into post-college life. Since then, we have made so many incredible memories. From San Francisco and New York City to Paris and Rome, I have had a front row seat to watch this beautiful woman walk through the world with her infectious love of life (and traveling). We have started new jobs, scoured all over the world for the best restaurants, watched a new home come to life from the ground up, and have been blessed with the best dog, Bo. Through all of these incredible changes and milestones over the last few years, Megan has been my best friend through it all. She is the most sincere and sweetest person I’ve ever met, with a heart of gold and one that seeks to help others with unlimited generosity. Megan is beyond thoughtful and remembers even the smallest details about people, and never misses an opportunity to give a gift. I’ll never forget the time she made me an Easter basket even though she had only known me for about a month, but I hope this gives you a glimpse into just how generous she is. From very early on, I knew that Megan was one of a kind and I’m still amazed that this special girl said yes to a guy like me. I truly am blessed that God gave me Megan as a partner for life and I see more of Him in her every day. I love to love her, and I do more so with every passing day. These past few years together have really flown by and I am so excited to learn more about this incredible woman as we walk the path of life together. I can’t wait to love her through all of the seasons of life as we grow old and hopefully are blessed with children and grandchildren. I will always be grateful that I ended up in the right place at the right time on that night back in February. Megan, I love you with all my heart and can’t wait to see what the future holds for us!
