The Wedding Website of Joe Cimino and Kevin Maas
Question

How do I get to the Château?

Answer

Two buses will depart The Catacombs of Paris on Wednesday, July 3rd at 1:00pm local time and transport guests to the wedding venue and the neighboring town that has accommodation if you're staying in town, then to the venue. Reference the schedule insert in your invitation for more details! If you prefer to rent a car for ease of your schedule that's great too.

Question

How long will we be at Château Baronville?

Answer

The shuttle departs Paris Wednesday, July 3rd at 1:00pm local time and will return you to Paris on Thursday, July 4th, so plan to pack an overnight bag! There will be plenty of time to get ready at your accommodations.

Question

How far is the Château from Paris?

Answer

The Château is about 75 minutes from city center. If you're taking the shuttle feel free to sit back, relax, and enjoy the beautiful drive through the French countryside!

Question

Where do I meet up with the shuttle to take me to the Venue/Chartres?

Answer

Both buses will depart from Catacombs of Paris at 1:00pm local Paris time. Why the Catacombs of Paris? Because it's very easy to get to! From city center take metro line number 4 to Denfert-Rochereau (approx 10-15 minute ride) When you exit the station to street level, the Catacombs will be right in front of you! Or simply input "Catacombs of Paris" into your Google/Apple Maps. Not thrilled to tackle public transit before the big day? Don't stress! Just take an Uber, but keep in mind Paris traffic will add travel time versus the Metro, so plan to leave yourself plenty of time to get there!

Question

Will I have time to get ready before the ceremony?

Answer

Yes! Whether you're taking the shuttle to Baronville or Chartres, you will have plenty of time to get ready before the ceremony, so keep those comfy joggers on for the ride!

Question

What's the weather going to be like?

Answer

While Paris traditionally has more mild summer temperatures compared to many parts of the US, occasional summer heatwaves do occur! Average daily high temperatures in July are between 78 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit. PRO TIP: Be sure to check your accommodation for air conditioning as an "amenity". While most hotels will have air conditioning, Airbnb accommodations, particularly in the older parts of Paris, may not.

Question

What are on-site accommodations like?

Answer

As a part of our immediate family, you may have been invited to stay on-site! While we would love to have you close by, we understand this might not be ideal for certain guests. While the accommodations are comfortable, they do not include air conditioning or television. But don't fret, if you're up until the cooler late hours of the evening (last call is at 2:00am), you won't be needing either! Our recommended hotels in Chartres may better suit your needs if you require air conditioning or do not plan to party the night away (although we hope you do!)

Question

How will the 2024 Summer Olympics impact my time in Paris?

Answer

Probably not so much! While the Olympics are taking place in Paris during the summer of 2024, the opening ceremonies are not until July 26th, 2024. While the city will be gearing up in the weeks leading up to the games, you should not be greatly impacted, assuming you depart Paris before the week of the 16th. But just to be sure we highly highly recommend you BOOK EARLY! Like now. No really, if there's anything you're waiting to book, wait no longer!

Question

Is it hard to get around Paris?

Answer

No! Public transit in Paris is very easy to navigate with integration to Google/Apple maps. Just enter your destination and Google/Apple maps will tell you which line(s) to take and what the train schedule is! If you prefer, Uber is also a popular ride-share option in Paris. Walking the city is ultra romantic if the first two options aren't what you're looking for!

Question

What if I can't speak French?

Answer

It's ok! In Paris, almost everyone speaks English fluently, but they do expect you to kindly greet them and ask if they speak English first. Pro Tip: Be sure to say "Bonjour!" when entering shops and restaurants, it's the easiest way to make friends :) French Duolingo or Babbel will also go a long way - "Oui oui !"

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

There are on-site accommodations for family. The nearby town, Chartres, is 15 minutes from the venue and the hotels we recommend are Hôtel Mercure Chartres Centre Cathédrale and Hotel & Spa Le Grand Monarque Chartres, but there are plenty of options (probably Airbnbs too).

Question

What do I need to know about the 2024 requirements for Europe travel?

Answer

*UPDATE as of 12/21/23: ETIAS travel visa won’t be in effect until mid-2025.* No need to worry about any extra travel documents. If this changes before the wedding we’ll be sure to let you know!

Question

Hmm, where's my passport? Do I have a passport?

Answer

Dust off your passport and make sure that it won't be expiring by July 3, 2024 or within 3 months after that. If your passport is close to that expiration, we'd say to just get it renewed early! If you don't have a passport yet, now is the time! Check out the following link for more info: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/how-apply.html
