Head to McDougal Street in the West Village to see "The Cafe Wha Band." They are often referred to as the best house band in the city. We might be there Saturday night!
We recommend Gallow Green, a magical garden atmosphere (also near the HighLine).
It's worth it. For a refreshment stop at Tavern on the Green and sit in the garden. The sparkling sangria is amazing.
Our favorite is the Met. It's massive so figure out one or two areas to check out. Ancient Egypt is pretty impressive.
If you're a foodie and Italian is your jam check out Eataly. It's an Italian market featuring several different restaurants, awesome cheese, gelato, espresso, and more! We recommend checking out the rooftop beer garden for great drinks and views.
The Freedom Tower and the 9/11 Memorial are truly spectacular. The memorial and reflecting ponds are free to visit. If you plan on heading up to the top of the freedom tower skip the big line by buying your ticket in advance online. There is also a 9/11 museum on the grounds.
They're in town and Yankee Stadium is awesome. It's easy to get to via the B/D orange train line.
NYC has the best dive bars. To name a couple of our favorites -Lucy's in the East Village, or try Trailer Park on 23rd. You won't be sorry.
If you're a runner, Joey says running along the Hudson River is a must. It just might give you a whole new perspective on NYC.
Speaking of the Hudson, if you want to grab West side city views by sipping frose and eating oysters, jump on the North River Lobster Company cruise. It's $10 to board and the boat cruises along the Hudson for 30 minutes. Once on board you can cruise as many times as you want.
Don't Tell Mama is a fabulous piano bar in midtown featuring Broadway caliber talent. We have never been disappointed.
Explore Brooklyn! Here are 4 things we love to do in the BK (the borough where Joey's mom's family originally hails from!). 1. Ride the Cyclone at Coney Island. 2. Take a tour at Brooklyn Brewery and explore Williamsburg. 3. Hit the Royal Palms Shuffle Board Club. 4. Check out the Brooklyn Museum.
Find high end shopping on 5th Ave, find whatever your heart desires in SoHo, or check out the worlds largest store: Macy's on 34th street (of course).
Joe's favorite spot is Osteria Cotta on Columbus and 85th. ($26 for an entree and bottomless brunch drinks!). Joey recommends Hotel Chantelle in the Lower East Side for live jazz and 92 cent cocktails. Make a reservation!
Check out the squid and the whale, or head down to the butterfly conservatory!
Established in 1854 — McSorley’s can boast of being New York City’s oldest continuously operated saloon. They only serve 2 (delicious) drinks: light or dark beer. Everyone from Abe Lincoln to John Lennon have passed thru McSorley’s swinging doors. Enter the sawdust strewn floors and history patched walls for a trip back through time.
A book lover's paradise. New York City booklovers treasure trove - home to 18 miles of books. New books, used books, rare books, out of print books, art books, and more.
