In early 2021, Emily and Joe’s paths crossed on Hinge. Both were ICU nurses in Baltimore, but little did they know, they were about to embark on a journey that would change their lives forever. Early in their relationship, they discovered a shared dream: to become Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologists. While Emily was hesitant about applying right away, Joe’s unwavering belief in her pushed her to take the leap. As they navigated the challenging application process, they made unforgettable memories together. They traveled through California on a scenic train tour, spent a week exploring the vibrant streets of Las Vegas, and hiked through the breathtaking landscapes of Zion National Park. When Emily and Joe both found themselves waiting for graduate school to begin in the Spring of 2022, they took a travel nursing contract in Denver—making the most of every moment together. Through the intensity of graduate school at Georgetown, Emily and Joe’s bond only deepened. They leaned on each other, growing from partners in the classroom to inseparable companions in life. In the summer of 2024, Emily embarked on a clinical rotation in Seattle, where her sister Hannah lives, while Joe stayed back in Baltimore. They reunited for a conference in San Diego, where, in the very park they had shared their first vacation, Joe proposed. Now, with clinical rotations and classes nearly behind them, Emily and Joe finally had the chance to pause, reflect, and appreciate how far they’ve come—and look forward to the exciting future they’ll continue to build together.
