You don't need any particular destination to enjoy the view along the Alexandria waterfront at the bottom of Prince / King Streets. Stroll along the marina to see the river, the docks, the boats, the birds, the other people strolling around doing the same thing...
A collection of art studios, open to the public with no admission fee, in what used to be, well, a torpedo factory! Talk about swords to ploughshares... Three floors of interesting art to browse no matter what the weather.
Selling tickets right at the waterfront, at the terminus of Cameron St, Potomac Riverboat Co runs water taxis and tour boats up and down the Potomac. Take a ride to the casino at National Harbor (if you're feeling lucky), head to Georgetown to walk the canal, or just stay on for a roundtrip tour of the beautiful Potomac.
Connor's favorite place in Old Town!
On Monday nights, musicians gather around the back fireplace and play traditional Irish songs. Worth an extension of your stay! Even if you can't stay through Monday night, this is a beautiful Irish pub with lots of hidden nooks and surprise balconies. The Guinness is pretty good, too.
Great food, great view, especially when the weather is warm enough for dockside patio seating. The oysters and deviled eggs are unrivaled.
John's mom, Marguerite, was a Murphy. Get your fine Irish swag here!
Latest last call in Alexandria. Just sayin.
