Jodi and Sean met through a dating app! Who doesn’t these days? Jodi was tired of the same fish in the Kansas City sea, so against her better judgement, she expanded her dating radius to include St. Joseph! She had never done this before, because she was worried she would meet someone and have to move! LOL. She saw that Sean had swiped right on her and she thought he was so dang handsome, so she swiped right as well to officially connect. The next morning, Super Bowl Sunday, she’d connected with Sean. On this dating app, the woman has to reach out first. So she sent him a message and he responded “well aren’t you a ray of sunshine on this cold, grey morning” and the rest is history!

Sean and Jodi have known for a long time they were going to marry. Sean always said he would only introduce his children to one woman and that would be the one he chose to marry. Jodi has loved the Timber Creek venue for a long time, and when the April 6 date become available due to a cancellation in March of 2023, Jodi sent a message to Sean letting him know of it’s availability! Otherwise they were booked through November 2024!! So Sean responded, “if that’s when you want to get married that sounds great to me”. So they booked the date and the plans were set. The official proposal came a little later. It was always important to Sean to get this right. In the summer of 2022, Sean and Jodi bought some land just southwest of Saint Joseph with plans to build their forever home. One evening, Sean asked the boys if they wanted to go see where they were going to build their home. The grass is tall at present, but in full costume (Rylan was dressed as The Hulk, and Ridge as Pikachu) they trudged into the pasture. Jodi had picked up Rylan and put him on her shoulder because he couldn’t see and Ridge was holding on to her waist. Standing behind her, she heard Sean say “Jodi Lyn” and she turned around and he had the ring box open! After a moment of processing emotions, Jodi said “are you asking me to marry you!?” And Sean said “yes, Jodi, will you marry me?” And of course she said yes!! As she cried tears of joy Rylan yelled “Stop crying Jode, you’re freaking me out!” LOL and they all four had a good laugh and it couldn’t have been a more perfect proposal, in the most meaningful place, with the boys a part of it.
