Although neither of us have direct ties to Jaipur, the city has a rich cultural heritage, beautiful venues, and a vibrant atmosphere. We chose a city known for its festive celebrations to honor our union as a couple.
You will need an up to date passport that has at least 6 months of validity prior to expiration as well as an Indian Visa in order to travel to India.
The best ways to reach Jaipur are by flight or by car. We recommend flying into the Delhi international airport. If you plan to travel before the wedding, we suggest visiting Delhi first, then Agra (Taj Mahal), and then Jaipur. Fun fact - these three cities form the Golden Triangle and are very popular cities for tourists. Once you are in India, most people travel by car/bus/train, but you are welcome to take flights between these cities if you prefer. Delhi to Jaipur by car will be ~4 hours and you can Uber, Ola, or other taxi services.
We recommend arriving to Jaipur no later than the morning of Thursday February 6th (but highly recommend arriving a couple days earlier to settle into the city!) Wedding festivities officially kick off that evening.
We are working with the venue to get a room block for Thursday February 6th so guests can stay at the venue. However, if you'd like to arrange for a hotel in a different part of the city you are more than welcome to. Hotel accommodations will be provided for all guests on Friday, February 7th and Saturday, February 8th.
Jaipur is known for its rich history of royalty and vibrant culture. Some must-see attractions include the Amber Fort, City Palace, Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), Jantar Mantar, and local markets. Even today, the royal family of Jaipur maintains a presence in the city, and while the monarchy no longer holds political power, they continue to reside in Jaipur.
During February, Jaipur experiences pleasant weather with average temperatures ranging from 60-80 degrees F during the daytime and around 55 degrees F at night.
If you want to try out Indian wear, how exciting! We encourage you to reach out to your South Asian friends to borrow / get a sense of which styles would look best for each event. However, there is no obligation to wear Indian clothing - please wear whatever you are most comfortable in within your budget! Regardless of what you wear, we encourage you to dress up! There is no such thing as "over-dressing" ;) See below for a more detailed guide on what outfits to wear.

The best place to buy Indian clothes is in India, but we know it may be hard to find time before the wedding to purchase clothes. Here are some sites we've been recommmended! https://www.kalkifashion.com/ https://www.houseofindya.com/ https://www.lashkaraa.com/ https://www.cbazaar.com/ https://www.manyavar.com/en-us
Start taking probiotics to strengthen your stomach. Food quality standards have improved significantly in India but we recommend preparing and packing medications just in case! Be extra wary of water - only drink out of mineral water bottles. Credit cards are widely accepted in urban areas, but we recommend bringing cash (Indian Rupee) to use just in case. You will be able to barter in most cases. Bring an outlet adapter to ensure your chargers work with Indian outlets.
