The Sacred Thread Ceremony (Upanayana) is a Hindu rite of passage ritual mainly for boys, signifying their initiation into the study of Vedic knowledge and embracing Hindu traditions. This ceremony marks their transition from childhood to spiritual awareness, symbolized by wearing a sacred thread over the left shoulder. The Haldi ceremony, a joyful pre-wedding ritual in Hindu culture, involves applying turmeric paste to the Bride and Groom's skin. This vibrant tradition symbolizes auspiciousness, purity, and wards off evil spirits, preparing the couple for their upcoming union while fostering blessings from loved ones. Suggested Attire: South Indian; Women to wear South Indian sarees (other Indian outfits in green/magenta OK as well). We encourage your outfit color base to be green or magenta but other color accents are totally OK! Men to wear dhotis (ready made are available) and a kurta (kurta and normal pants OK as well).

This celebration includes dances performed by relatives and friends of the Bride and Groom and an open dance floor to commemorate the festivities for the following days and to honor the union of the couple with lively entertainment. Come ready to eat, drink, and dance! Suggested Attire: American Cocktail; Women to wear Western gowns (please refrain from plunging necklines & very short dresses). Men to wear suits / tuxedos. Glitz & glam!

The Baraat is an Indian wedding tradition where the groom accompanied by his family and friends dance all the way to the bride’s doorstep or wedding venue. Traditionally, the Groom's family and friends lead the procession but we encourage all guests to attend! The Baraat will be followed by the traditional wedding pooja conducted by a Hindu priest. Suggested Attire: Traditional Indian
