Question

Will there be parking? Will there be shuttles?

We've created a map and lodging guide specific to our wedding, please review first :) https://bit.ly/SugarBowlLodging There is parking available at Sugar Bowl Lodge or Royal Gorge. Both have large parking lots. Note that on wedding day, we plan to run shuttles from both Sugar Bowl Lodge and Truckee Donner Lodge to Royal Gorge (wedding location) starting 2hr before the wedding starts. Shuttles will be available every ~20-30min from 2 - 4PM. Shuttles will be available for return from 9 - 11PM.

What is the dress code for the wedding day?

Answer

Wedding Attire: mountain semi-formal We’re excited to celebrate with you in the beautiful mountain setting! We'd love to complement the natural beauty of our venue and keep everyone comfortable. Keep in mind for footwear choices - there may be uneven terrain and natural surfaces. For Women: Consider cocktail dresses, long or short, in fabrics suitable for the summer. Rich jewel tones, earth tones, or floral patterns are great choices to match the mountain scenery. If you’ll be wearing heels, you may want to opt for block or wedge styles suitable for uneven terrain and grass, or consider stylish flats or boots. Layers are encouraged for cooler mountain evenings. For Men: Sport coat with dress pants or suit works well. We can’t wait to see how you bring this look to life!

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Search for weather at Soda Springs, Norden or Donner Summit. The average highs in August is ~80F with lows going down to 45F, but mountain weather can vary a lot! Keep in mind that our location is at 6800 ft elevation. Sugar Bowl Lodge & vacation houses will have fans but do not have AC.

Are there hotel and lodging discounts?

Answer

We have secured a discounted rate for an off-site hotel: Truckee Donner Lodge. Please call to book and mention Babb wedding. There are rooms with 1 King bed (discount rate is $200) and rooms with 2 Queens (discount rate is $225).

Are children allowed?

Answer

Yes, we'd love to have them! Please let us know if they need special seating.

Can I bring a pet?

Answer

Pets are not allowed for wedding day. Sugar Bowl Lodge does not allow pets, some off-site lodging may.

Question

Will it be outdoors or indoors?

Answer

Both the ceremony and reception will be outdoors, so please prepare for the elements - likely warm during the day and cool at night, and there may be bugs. Reception will be under a covered tent with sides open to the air.
