FAQs

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP as soon as possible once you decide you will be attending. We will be closing the RSVP in May of 2025 and will only be able to accommodate to those who have RSVP'ed.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

If you received a plus one, they will appear under your name when you RSVP on our website & will also appear on your invitation.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Although we love your children, only those named on invitations are welcome. We prefer to limit children to those who have a direct relationship with both the bride and groom. With this said, if you need help finding a babysitter for the evening, we are happy to connect you with other parents who may be searching for one as well.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Yes, and there is also Uber dropoff. When it gets closer to the date, we will be providing more information on additional pre-paid bus transportation to/from the Dear Madrid Hotel.

Question

When should I arrive in Madrid?

Answer

We recommend getting to Madrid a couple of days before the wedding, if possible, to give yourself a few days of R&R, especially since the reception will be going into the late hours of the night.

Question

What is the weather like in August?

Answer

The weather fluctuates, but during the afternoon and early evening, it will most likely be hot. Madrid in late August and September has a temperature that varies from 23°C to 30°C. After midnight it can get a bit colder going down to 15°C. It would be a good idea to bring a light jacket or chal in case you get chilly as the night goes on.

Question

Why Madrid?

Answer

Joaquin’s family originates from the beautiful Northwest of Spain - Galicia. Joaquin and Erica usually travel to Galicia each Summer to spend time with family. On one of their annual Galicia trips, they took a layover in Madrid for Erica’s 25th birthday. This trip solidified their love for Madrid’s beautiful architecture, delicious food, and of course, Spain’s best soccer team, Real Madrid. Since then, they’ve made it back to visit Madrid annually. They can’t wait to share, with you all, their favorite city and the home of their favorite futbol club!

Question

How do I get around Madrid?

Answer

Madrid is well connected and walkable. Some of the distances can be a bit long, but if you have the time, walking is a great way to see the city. Uber is available in Madrid and is generally well priced and reliable. Taxi's are also a great option and you should always be able to pay with either cash or card. There are also buses with routes throughout the city as well as tour buses for sightseeing and historic landmarks. Last time they were in Madrid, Joaquin and Erica explored the city using "Lime" scooters (connected to Lyft).

Question

Any tips for traveling?

Answer

First and foremost, make sure that your passport is valid! Please ensure that your passport will not be expiring within 6 months of your travel dates. Renewal times will vary, so we urge you to take a minute to review your passport's expiration date. Secondly, different passports will have different entry eligibilities, so please make sure to double check with your country's embassy website for any visas, if any, are required. In 2025, for any non-EU citizens, you will also be required to apply for an ETIAS travel authorization online. According to information available currently, it should be a quick application with a $10 cost. The travel authorization will be valid for 3 years or until your current passport expires. https://www.thetrainline.com/en-us/via/europe/etias-the-visa-americans-will-need-to-enter-europe#:~:text=Starting%20mid%2D2025%2C%20American%20nationals,to%20enter%2030%20European%20countries.
