QUICK TIPS FOR YOUR TRIP 1. English is spoken but not as widely as you’d expect for a tourist town. It’s helpful to brush up on your Spanish! 2. Pesos are the main currency in Tulum. Order Pesos in your home country to avoid high conversion costs. Some places will accept USD or credit card. Cash is always preferred and sometimes cheaper! 3. Avoid the no-name ATM’s and try to use a branch bank ATM such as HSBC, Banamex, Santander, or Banorte when getting cash. 4. Tap water is NOT acceptable to drink here under any circumstance. Make sure to ask if ice is filtered. Use bottled water to brush your teeth as well. 5. There is no Uber in Tulum but taxis are plentiful and easy to flag down (caution: they are expensive!) 6. Please consider booking popular activities ahead of time. Many excursions can also be booked at a lower rate in-person. 7. Parking is cash only for most lots. The average prices usually range from 200-400 MXN for the whole day.
