This is Geoff's favorite spot in Austin. Outside of the city, Jester King Brewery showcases Austin's Hill Country and Craft Beer scene. Enjoy a brew and pizza from their neighbor Stanley's Pizza! If you want a unique Austin experience, this is a must!
LIFE CHANGING. If you are a foodie and looking for a memorable meal/bragging rights, this is where you need to go! Geoff and I like to just sit at the bar and ask for their recommendations. Our recommendations: Brussel Sprouts! Lots and lots of brussel sprouts! Ham and eggs, the albacore and basil, and just do yourself a favor, listen to their recommendations! Oh and of course, uni, uni makes for the best dessert!
Located on 2nd and congress, this Austin staple is in an awesome location (sit on the patio for some great people watching) and has some of our favorites! Our recommendations: share everything! But make sure to get the Parmesan fries and shishito peppers! To make your meal a great, treat yourself to the Green River cocktail, I promise you won't regret it!
My mouth is salivating just thinking of this place! Located on the East side, it's aesthetic is eclectic and modern with a menu to match. Geoff and I stumbled upon this little gem by accident and have been hooked ever since. This like most of our recommendations is a small shareable plate place, so make sure to put your stretchy pants on! Our recommendations: PUFFY POTATOES (just go ahead and order a couple right off the bat) and the hot rock.
A friend turned us onto this marvelous restaurant and BOY, OH BOY, is it marvelous! It's not your typical Italian, its again, a small plate of delights menu. Easy to walk too while exploring the city, this would be a great spot to grab a bite! Our recommendations: THE BREAD oh my goodness, THE BREAD, the octopus, cauliflower, bishop hats pasta, bone marrow risotto, basically the whole menu!
This is a place to go for great scenery! Right on Town lake, it is such fun to just grab a drink, sit in the sun, watching the boats and people go by.
AMAZING Brunch in East Austin, right on the Colorado River. The outside patio is beautiful and a must see! Not to mention, they have a neat mercantile to shop around at before or after your meal (beware, we always end up grabbing something in that shop!) Fun fact, the owner's family owns a large operating cattle ranch and sources most of its' ingredients locally. We come here every weekend we go to Austin! Our recommendations: grab one of their fun cocktails, mac n' cheese, smoked salmon board (yum), scones (changes each week!), ham schnitzel and waffles n fried chicken!
Don't like "German food?" Don't let that turn you away. This European influenced menu is spectacular, bursting with flavor. Located in our favorite neighborhood, Tarrytown, the restaurant is built out of an old house with plenty of character and charm. Our recommendations: the Forrest mushroom ravioli... oh my goodness, it's my favorite dish ANYWHERE, schnitzel, pretzel/cheese/meat boards, and rabbit.
McGuire Moorman Hospitality has several restaurants all around Austin, Perla's and Clarks are two of our favorites but make sure to check out Jeffery's, Josephine House, Elizabeth Street Cafe, and Lambert's Fancy BBQ; they are all phenomenal. Our recommendations for Perla's: so June may not be the best time of year for oysters, but I would still get them, they're amazing, calimari, and lobstah roll =),
Rainey Street is a must for all those traveling to Austin who enjoy a good craft beer or cocktail. Craft Pride has an amazing beer selection as well as a pizza trailer, VIVA 313 which claims to make Detroit Style pizza; i'm still not sure that is a thing but still, there pizza is VERY good!
For some fun in the sun or a swim in a natural spring, Zilker park is great fun and located downtown! Take a jog around town lake or play a round of disc golf with your puppy!
Go on a kayak ride or take out a paddle board!
This trailer on the east side produces the most amazing sides! And I guess if you like BBQ and Sausage that too! Our recommendations: Cheddar broccoli grits, kale cole slaw, and sausage.
I was hesitant to put on my absolute favorite spot since I want it all to myself but this walk is an amazingly beautiful trail with water and shade!
An outdoor mall with plenty to do, see, and eat if you want to visit Northern Austin
A neat bridge, down a beautiful highway, over Lake Travis
Catch a show!
Watch a performance!
This spring stays warm all year around!
With several great restaurants, costume shops, and other weird uniquely Austin places; this is a great spot to window shop and people watch!
Another notable mention in a great location, Peche' is a great place to grab a drink or two. They have an extensive drink menu and fun craft cocktails. Not to mention, the atmosphere will make you feel like you've gone back to the prohibition era. Our recommendations: The Honey Lavender drink, old fashioned, and a Manhattan
Like Peche', this place is a time warp in the prohibition era. They offer craft cocktails through the ages.
