How We Met

03.13.2017

Believe it or not, we each found the loves of our lives on Tinder. I (Joanna) was at Disney World with one of my best friends, Kayla, when Kayla convinced me to download the app. "It'll be something entertaining to do while we wait in line for rides!" I wasn't intending to get into anything serious, but when I saw Jake's trademark grin, his long hair, and leather jacket, and read that he was an electrical engineer who played guitar in a metal band, I was in. He says that when he saw we had matched, he thought I was a bot because I was too pretty and 500+ miles away! Once we started talking, the messages were multiple paragraphs long. We still haven't run out of things to talk about! On our first date, the day after Kayla and I got back from Disney World, Jake took me to play pool, to eat at a lovely local restaurant and craft brewery, and then to see Beauty and the Beast in the VIP section of the theater. It couldn't have gone better. We've been inseparable over the past two years, and we've had so much fun together. We've gone on vacations to Myrtle Beach, Gulf Shores, Columbus, Pennsylvania, D.C., Colorado, and the Blue Ridge Mountains. I joined Jake's band as the bassist. Jake's large circle of friends welcomed me with open arms and gave me more close friends than I've ever had. Now, we'll be starting a new chapter as husband and wife!

How He Asked

03.30.2019

Jake and I had already discussed marriage and that we were certain about each other, so I knew it was coming at some point... However, I thought it would be several more years! We went to Monte Sano State Park with a few close friends and Jake's brother on March 30th, and when we got to a lovely overlook spot, friends suggested we pose for a photo. I got ready to stand up straight and smile and Jake dropped to one knee. I remember saying, "What are you doing?!" before he could start talking. He said a few sweet words and popped the question. I said, "Of course!"
