How We Met

Written by Joanna: We have known of each other for over 10 years but it is an awkward story to tell because it starts out by me stalking him on MySpace after our high schools played against each other in basketball. I remember looking up his number on the sports roster and rushing home to find out more about him. He was so dreamy! Years later, many likes on social media posts, a run-in at a WSU party and living states away, Adrian decides to send me a message via Facebook asking if I would join him for a drinks while he was in the Bay Area. He was in California for residency interviews with his dad and I was just there a week before so he assumed I was living there. I was excited that he contacted me but I was living in Oceanside, CA so I had to tell him no. Days later, I reached out again and we started our long distance relationship which led to my move back to Washington State.

Engagement

Written by Joanna: Adrian asked to do a dinner date at El Gaucho in Seattle. We had both never been so we were excited to try out a new place. Dinner was amazing, venue was cool and the date was fun! After dinner, Adrian asked to go walk towards the waterfont to check out the ferris wheel but since we had been on the ferris wheel before and I was full from all the food I suggested we do something else. He tried persuading me by saying we had not been on the wheel in a while and it was a beautiful evening. I still asked to do something else. Persistent Adrian convinces me to go but as we get to the line I commented on the prices to do a a few turns around the wheel. He’s like, “Well, I have already paid so I guess we are going on a few turns.” It really was a beautiful evening in Seattle and we are both admiring the scenery of the waterfont and city sky line. I looked down and noticed all the bird poop on the roof of the building and say, “wow! Look at all that poop!” I turn around and Adrian is on his knee and tells me to close my eyes. I forget exactly what he said but I started bawling because it was so sweet. Something about enjoying our time together so far and wanting to grow old together. We finish the turns around the ferris wheel all happy and with tears that the ride attendant looked at us funny as we got off. I was not expecting the proposal that night. We are taking pictures to send our family and friends and my nails are chipped and my outfit is pretty basic but it was a magical night for us.
