This is a beautiful hike beloved by all the locals! It is about a 30 minute walk to the gorgeous scenic overlook where you can look out over the Shenandoah Valley. The hike is moderate: suitable for young children, but there is a portion of stair-like rocks that climb up towards the end of the hike. Our older guests might prefer driving to the upper parking lot just a little farther up the road where they can walk a short section of trail to reach the scenic overlook.
Harpers Ferry is a great place for some gorgeous hiking, fascinating history, and historic small town shopping. Go on a hike, explore the bike trail, investigate the local war history, buy some old fashioned candies, or even stop by Harpers Ferry Brewing for some gorgeous views over the river and a refreshing beer.
Caleb and I have visited this park many times on various occasions. We like to wander the green fields, walk around the pond, and find a comfy bench or swing to sit and talk. The barn at Franklin Park is also were I enjoyed many years of musical theater and Caleb supported me in all my shows. The pool here is the nicest pool around. Admission is not expensive and it is lots of fun for the kids with many different water features. There is even a splash pad for the little ones!
This fun, family owned farm is a great outing for all ages. Explore the farmlands, take a tractor ride, pick some fresh fruit, and peruse the store full of farm-fresh goodies. There are lots of fun activities for the kids and the young at heart. This is sure to be a successful outing for all. For the adults, just across the street you can enjoy a glass of wine at Bluemont Vineyard or a beer at Dirt Farm Brewing to see beautiful views of the Blueridge Mountains.
This adorable little French style cafe is known for their fresh crepes and darling atmosphere. This is a great place for a breakfast bite or mid-day snack!
A favorite local destination for the best soft serve around! Afterwards, walk the streets of downtown and take a picture in front of the "PURCELLVILLE" mural.
This is Joanna's favorite restaurant because of their amazing queso blanco and delicious sopapillas and fried ice cream for dessert. Her go-to meal is the fajitas!
