Travel Note

Methana by Sea

Boat schedules change by the season and options are not available at the moment for June. Please note, Methana generally has one ferry per day from the Port of Piraeus. We will share the boat schedule with you three weeks before the wedding. Sailing to Methana takes approximately 2 hours and costs around € 13 per person and € 31 per car (one direction). You can check the boat schedule or purchase your tickets from the link below. If there is no ferry to Methana that matches your schedule, you can sail through the island of Poros on a fast ferry or a hydrofoil, called flying dolphins in Greece. This costs around € 25 per person (no car option) and you will be on Poros in approximately 1 hour . From Poros, please take a taxi boat to Galatas (5 minutes, € 1) and take a taxi to Methana for about € 25. If you prefer to have a rented car from Poros, you can ask for it at Top Cars at Mr Dimitris Karababas (about € 35/day) Tel. 0030-22980-042443, cell phone 0030-693-2798876).

Travel Note

Methana by Land

If you plan to drive to Methana by car, we recommend one of the rental car offices in the arrival hall of the Athens airport. The trip should take approximately 2.5-3 hours in daylight and 3-4 hours at night. Directions from the airport. take the highway towards Elefsina-Corinth. There are about 4 toll stations and you will pay around € 10-14 Euros in cash. Near the channel of Corinth and follow the road sign towards Epidavros, leaving the highway. Then turn left and follow the route towards Epidavros. After Nea Epidavros, drive approx. 15 mins until you turn right towards Palia/Epidavros/Poros/Methana. In the circle take the first exit towards Poros/Galata/Methana. After about 2 km turn left to Poros/Galata/Methana and drive about 35 minutes to Kaloni. After the lake Psifta you turn left towards Methana (still 13 km). Please note, in case of rain, drive slow and carefully! There is sometimes old oil on the roads, especially in curves around the mountain road.

Travel Note
