Things To Do

Port of Call

838 Esplanade Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70116

This spot is small but mighty, famous for strong drinks and mouthwatering burgers. According to the groom, it’s “almost better than In-N-Out,” which is about the highest praise he can give. Be prepared to wait about 30-45 minutes for a table, but don’t worry, you can grab a to-go drink at the bar while you wait. Or, if you prefer, casually “hang out” at the bar and stalk people like you're in a Costco parking lot. You do you.

Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop Bar

941 Bourbon Street, New Orleans, LA 70116

An absolute favorite of the bride! Step inside one of the oldest bars in the French Quarter (and possibly the country) to enjoy drinks by candlelight near the piano bar. If you’re on the move, feel free to grab a drink to go and keep exploring.

Frenchmen Street

Frenchmen Street, New Orleans, LA

If you’re looking to experience the real heartbeat of New Orleans nightlife, Frenchmen Street is where it’s at. It stretches from the intersection with Esplanade Avenue in the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood to the Gentilly area, running parallel to Elysian Fields Avenue. This lively street offers a more local experience compared to the bustling Bourbon Street, making it a must-visit for those seeking authentic New Orleans nightlife and culture. Whether you’re into jazz, blues, or just good times, Frenchmen Street has a little something for everyone, and it’s a must-visit during your stay! P.S. The wedding party will be stopping here for an unofficial after-party, but feel free to spend more than one night here enjoying the music, the energy, and the unique spirit of the city.

Café Du Monde

813 Decatur Street, New Orleans, LA 70116

Touristy? Absolutely. But also an absolute must-do while you’re in the city! Just a friendly warning: do not wear black - for the love of beignets, you will regret it. But honestly, you won’t care once you’ve had your first sweet, powdered-sugar-covered bite.

Central Grocery and Deli

923 Decatur Street, New Orleans, LA 70116

A bit of a challenge to get your hands on the world’s best muffuletta, but trust us, you won’t regret it! The perfect sandwich to share… or not to share.

City Park

1 Palm Drive, New Orleans, LA 70124

City Park is a sprawling 1,300-acre urban oasis located outside the French Quarter, offering something for everyone. It’s one of the oldest urban parks in the country and features majestic oak trees, beautiful walking trails, and serene lagoons. The park is home to the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA), where guests can explore impressive art collections and the stunning sculpture garden. For families or anyone who loves animals, the City Park Botanical Garden and Storyland, a whimsical children’s playground filled with fairy-tale sculptures, provide plenty of charm and fun. Whether you want to rent a paddleboat, enjoy a picnic, stroll through the Sculpture Garden, or simply relax in nature, City Park offers a peaceful retreat from the excitement of the city.

Garden District

New Orleans, LA

Wander through the Garden District, one of New Orleans’ most picturesque and historic neighborhoods. Famous for its stunning 19th-century mansions, lush gardens, and grand oak-lined streets, this area offers a glimpse into the city’s elegant past. Take a leisurely stroll to admire the beautiful architecture, charming wrought-iron fences, and quaint cafes. Don’t miss the famous Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 nearby, where you can explore unique above-ground tombs and learn about local history.

Haunted History Tours

723 Saint Peter, New Orleans, LA 70119

Totally touristy but totally worth it! We’ll have a private haunted history tour the night before the wedding, but that doesn’t mean you can’t explore even more spooky stories during your stay. Kill two birds with one stone by choosing the tour that stops at Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop Bar. To-go drinks are encouraged, but keep in mind the streets aren’t exactly "Amy-proofed" so plan accordingly!

The National WWII Museum

945 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA 70130

If you have an extra day (or two) this is an excellent place to learn something, if you're in to that kind of thing. Whether you’re a history buff or just curious, the museum’s interactive displays, personal stories, and authentic artifacts make for a meaningful and educational experience. Plan on spending several hours exploring to get the most out of your visit.

Swamp Tours

Looking to escape the city for a bit? Take a guided boat ride through the Louisiana bayous for a true Southern adventure. You'll glide past moss-draped cypress trees, spot birds, turtles, and yes, plenty of alligators. Tours range from high-speed airboats to slower, scenic pontoon cruises, so there’s something for everyone’s comfort level. Most tours are about 30-45 minutes outside New Orleans and offer hotel pickup. A great option if you want to see the wild side of Louisiana (without having to wrestle a gator).
