Answer

Question

We don't want to stay at the Hawthorne, are there other options?

Answer

Yes, we've listed some other area hotels on the TRAVEL page, that cover a wide range of budgetary needs. There are also limited short term rentals in the area. Feel free to peruse your preferred booking sites for the options. Nearby towns include Danvers and Beverly. While not walkable, they are very short drives into Salem. If you'd like to stay in the big city, Boston is only 30 minutes or so away and you can drive or use public transportation. More details on those options are also listed on the TRAVEL page.

What's the weather like in Massachusetts in December?

Answer

Plan for cold. The temperatures can vary wildly, highs could be in the 40's, they could be in the 20's. There can be rain, or snow. Please check weather forecasts before begining travel.

Where is the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception?

Answer

All events will be held in the library of the Hawthorne Hotel. The library is downstairs- take the elevator down. It opens right to the space.

Can I take photos/video of the ceremony?

Answer

We kindly request that all phones be silenced and tucked away during the ceremony. We've hired an awesome photographer to capture the important bits so that you, our loved ones, can sit back and enjoy this moment without the distraction.

Answer

Yes please! After the ceremony, please take all the photos and videos you'd like! But make sure to share them with us!

Food and drink

Answer

When the RSVP window opens, there will be an option for you to select what you'd like to eat for dinner. PLEASE ensure you tell us of any dietary restrictions or allergies so that our venue can provide an adequate meal. The bar will be open during cocktail and reception. Please drink responsibly.

Can I bring my own alcohol?

Answer

Please do not. The hotel has to abide by Massachusetts laws, and as such, no outside alcohol is permitted on the premesis. This includes in hotel rooms.

Are we expected to bring a gift?

Answer

Absolutely not. Your prescence at our wedding is gift enough. If you still would like to bring a gift, a beautiful card, drawing, marital advice or a favorite recipe would be amazing. We will have a box to receive those items.

Where is your gift registry?

Answer

We are looking towards purchasing a home in the near future, and we have set up a fund for those who would like to gift. We have also added a small registry for things that we expect to need for our future home. Nothing is expected, everything is appreciated. Please see the regsitry page for more information.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Answer

Since all of our events are indoors at the same location, weather conditions will not affect the event itself. However, as Jenn will always advise, if you are travelling, please add travel insurance to protect your trip in the event of inclimate weather that leads to cancellations or last minute changes.

What should I wear?

Answer

Cocktail attire, or that Great Gatsby costume collecting dust in your closet. If you want to be extra, go for it!

When can we see you before or after the big day?

Answer

We will be running around doing last minute things we can't do from Florida the week of the wedding. However, we've filled the Things To Do page with some of our favorite things and will be happy to make other recommendations. On Friday evening, after the rehearsal, we will be at Bit Bar, located at: . Sunday after the wedding we will have breakfast at: Please feel free to pop in and out at your leisure.

When is the RSVP deadline

Answer

The deadline to RSVP is : Pending. Will update once invitations officially go out. Due to vendor restrictions, we cannot accomodate late RSVPS. Please get your RSVP in as soon as possible. If your RSVP changes, please update or let us know as soon as possible so that we can notify the hotel.

Can I bring a friend?

Answer

We can only accommodate invited guests at this time. Please do not add someone to your invitation or bring a friend unannounced. We will not be able to make room.

is there Parking?

Answer

YES! The Hawthorne Hotel has 2 free parking lots. Those are available first come, first served. There will be another wedding happening that evening, so please plan accordingly. If there is no parking available, there is a large garage nearby.

Please arrive no later than 2:45pm. We will begin promptly at 3.
