paul and ji su met on a dating app, and had their first date at a cafe. during their first date they talked about MBTI (ji su is an ISFP, and paul is an ISTJ), visiting a cat shelter for their next date, and how paul's manager got fired the day before.

paul had made plans to propose in march 2020, when we were supposed to fly to NY to meet ji su's parents. but the pandemic threw a wrench in those plans... so paul improvised and waited until the stay-at-home restrictions were first lifted in the bay area. ji su and paul made plans to take paul's headshots at a park they went to frequently... so paul surprised her by popping the question at the end of the shoot.
