This guide is designed to help you plan your trip with confidence and understand what to expect when travelling to Perth and onward to the Margaret River region. Arriving in Australia Flights For all overseas guests, the best airport to fly into is Perth Airport (PER) in Western Australia. Perth is a major international gateway with direct flights from Europe, the UK, Asia, and the Middle East, as well as frequent domestic connections. Please ensure you: Hold a valid passport (with at least 6 months validity) Apply for the appropriate Australian visa well in advance Check airline baggage allowances, particularly if planning extended travel Staying in Perth As the journey from Perth to Dunsborough takes approximately two and a half hours by car, many guests may find it convenient to stay in Perth either on arrival or before departing Australia. This can be a great way to recover from long-haul travel before continuing into the South-West. Travelling from Perth to Dunsborough Travel Time Approximate driving time: 2.5 hours Roads are well maintained and straightforward Driving is on the left-hand side of the road Please note that public transport options to and within Margaret River region are limited, so travelling by car is strongly recommended. Travel Options Option 1: Hire a Car Hiring a car from Perth Airport or the city is the most flexible and popular option. It allows you to explore the Margaret River region at your own pace, including wineries, beaches, and local attractions. Option 2: Car Pool with Other Guests We encourage guests to car pool where possible. This is a great way to share the journey, reduce costs, and travel together. We will assist in connecting guests travelling at similar times closer to the wedding date.
