Please consult the "Travel" page for details on traveling to San Miguel. We expect the first wedding event to begin in the late afternoon on Friday, April 4th (all guests invited) and we will have a Sunday brunch for anyone still in town. More details to come!
IMPORTANT!! Yes, you will need a valid passport with more than six months of validity to travel to Mexico. Please check the expiration date ASAP! American's do not need visas to travel to Mexico. Friends from other nationalities can check here if they require a visa at the bottom of this website: https://embamex.sre.gob.mx/finlandia/index.php/traveling/visas.
For the events on each day... FRIDAY: Cocktail attire (with comfortable shoes for the Callejoneada). SATURDAY: Formal attire. We invite you to dress up and celebrate in style! Think formal or cocktail-length dresses and suits (with tie). SUNDAY: Casual attire — come as you are.
In early April, San Miguel de Allende has awesome spring weather with warm days and cool evenings. Daytime temps are usually in the mid-70s to low 80s (24-28°C), perfect for exploring. Nights can get cooler, dropping to the low 50s (10-12°C), so bring a light jacket for the evenings but you won't need it on the dance floor!! Because it's a great time to visit (and for a wedding!) with lots of sunshine and mild weather, everything will be outdoors or semi-outdoors. The reception will be under a tall tent that will feel like you're outside but will cover us in case we have rain.
San Miguel is very walkable town and all the events of the weekend will be right in the heart of downtown so we expect most guests will be able to walk to and from events. That being said, it can be a bit hilly and the cobblestones aren't heel-friendly, so if you prefer to take a cab, you can easily spot them on the street. These are super affordable (typically less than $120 Mexican Pesos or ~$7 USD, cash only) and safe. Uber is available but tends to take a long time. You do not need a rental car to get around town. As a reminder, we encourage you to download WhatsApp to communicate with hotels and drivers.
You will need cash for things like local cabs, tips, handcrafts, street vendors, etc. Being a touristic town, lots of people will accept USD, but if you're able to bring pesos it'll make your life a bit easier. You can take out cash at ATM in town, or if you're like Ben, you can call your bank in the U.S. and order pesos ahead of time to bring with you.
Yes! If you have a major US carrier like Verizon or AT&T, you phone will work as if you were in the US, no international rates. To be safe, check with your carrier ahead of the trip.
Sadly, no. We are staying with our families at the wedding venue which doesn't have additional rooms. However, all of the hotels listed on the "Travel" page are walking distance.
Not really. Water is safe to brush your teeth but not necessarily to drink.
We love your kids but would like to keep our celebration adults only.
