Jillian's favorite museum in Norfolk. The Chrysler Museum holds over 30,000 art pieces and also has a glass studio across the street with live glass blowing exhibits. Admission is free and the museum is open 10 am to 5 pm, Tuesday through Sunday.
Located in downtown Norfolk, the USS Wisconsin can be viewed from waterside or be toured through admission to Nauticus, a maritime museum. Close to where the ship is docked, there is also a Pagoda garden to take a walk through. Many restaurants and stores in downtown are walking distance from Nauticus.
Virginia Beach is known for its vacation quality beaches, but the Ocean Front district can be a bit busy and kitschy. We recommend opting for the North End instead for a more calm visit to the beach. The North End is on Atlantic Avenue between 40th and 88th street. Our favorite spot is 64th street. Have fun going for a swim or just soak in the sun if the May waters are still too cold.
First Landing State Park offers hiking/biking trails with views of wetlands and the bay. Admission to this state park also has beach access for a more private experience. Fun fact: First Landing State Park is the most northern point where spanish moss can be found in North America. We highly recommend for anyone wanting to have a bit of fun in nature.
Known for being the home of the original waffle cone, Doumar's allows you to drive in or dine in to enjoy North Carolina-style barbecue and ice cream in this historic diner. You can even view the original waffle cone maker from 1904 on display inside!
