Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Jillian McFarland and Nathaniel Frisch
We’d love for you to turn our wedding into a vacation! Oregon is full of natural beauty, fun activities, and unique spots, and we’ve put together a few ideas if you’d like to extend your trip and explore.

The Columbia River Gorge

The gorge is the border between Oregon and Washington - there is so much to do on both sides! The wedding will be here, so you can save the views for the big day. If you want to check it out early, there are tons of beautiful waterfalls, hikes, wineries, and sights to see. We recommend Multnomah Falls, Angel's Rest (harder hike), and Beacon Rock.

Willamette Valley Wine Country

Only about an hour away, with rolling vineyards, beautiful views, and some of the best pinot noir in the country.

Tillamook Creamery

4165 North Highway 101, Tillamook, OR 97141

Tillamook is an iconic Oregon brand. The factory is family-friendly and includes a restaurant, samples, and explains the history and the process. Pair it with a visit to Cannon Beach, Lincoln City, or Seaside for the perfect coastal Oregon day trip.

Portland Downtown

Portland, OR

Experience Portland for yourself. Iconic spots include Salt & Straw (our fav) and Voodoo Donuts, both of which have spread to other states, but started here. Powells Books is also a famously huge book store and a landmark. 23rd Ave has Salt & Straw and is full of shops, restaurants, and is an overall iconic street. Nike Biketown is a fun way to see the city while riding the iconic orange bikes. You'll see them all over town and they are super easy to rent. You can ride them around the city, and can even cross the river on one of the pedestrian-only bridges.

International Rose Test Garden

400 Southwest Kingston Avenue, Portland, OR 97205

We got engaged here, definitely check it out! Beautiful views of downtown and Mt. Hood on a clear day.

Forest Park

Over 80 miles of trails in Portland’s own backyard—perfect for a free morning hike.

Henry Hagg Lake

OR 97119

If you need a water day, this one is great! Hagg Lake is a local spot Jill loves visiting that has beautiful views. Don't expect a beach, and the lake is not very clear, but it's a fun afternoon trip either way.

Oregon Zoo

4001 Southwest Canyon Road, Portland, OR 97221

Located right in Washington Park, a fun family-friendly stop if you’re already visiting the Rose Garden.

OMSI

1945 Southeast Water Avenue, Portland, OR 97214

Interactive science exhibits, a planetarium, and even a real submarine tour.

Seattle

Seattle, WA

Less than 3 hours north, with iconic sights like Pike Place Market, the Space Needle, and waterfront views.

Bend

Bend, OR

A 3-hour drive south, known for its craft breweries, riverfront, and high desert beauty. Great for an overnight trip.

Anything else!
