Things To Do

Dennis Beaches

Mayflower, Corporation, Howes, Cold Storage & more (Dennis) – Classic north-side Bay beaches with powdery sand and gentle surf. Note: several lots have resident-only rules or staffed hours; check Dennis’ beach page and signage before you go.

Nature & “Only on Cape”

Brewster Flats – North America’s largest tidal flats. Best time is 1–2 hours before low tide to roam sandbars and tide pools as the water recedes. Bring water shoes and watch the tide turn! Cape Cod Museum of Natural History (Brewster) – Small, kid-friendly museum with trails to the marsh and bay; check “Trails & Tides” and daily hours.

Historic & Local Makers

Josiah Dennis Manse & Old West Schoolhouse (Dennis Village) – An 18th-century saltbox parsonage built for Rev. Josiah Dennis—the town’s namesake—now a charming house museum with artifacts of early town life. On the same grounds, step into the one-room West Schoolhouse, the town’s only surviving district school. Seasonal hours (typically summer, limited days); check ahead. Sydenstricker Glass (Brewster) – Watch artisans create Sydenstricker’s distinctive fused glass in the gallery/workshop on scenic Route 6A. Great for gifts you’ll actually keep.

Lunch & Dinner

Encore Bistro & Bar (Dennis Village) – On the Cape Playhouse grounds; contemporary bistro fare in a lively setting. (They typically don’t take reservations.) Scargo Café (Dennis Village) – Casual-fine New American with Cape staples; limited reservations + walk-ins. FIN (Dennis Village) – Chef-owned, seasonal seafood spot; check current hours and reserve. Lost Dog Pub (East Dennis) – Local hang with pizza, wings, and seafood; kitchen late, first-come first-served. Sesuit Harbor Café @ Sesuit Marina (East Dennis) – Classic waterfront clam-shack vibes with picnic tables and bay views. Famous for lobster rolls; cash only, BYOB, counter service. Arrive early on sunny days; parking is at Sesuit Harbor.

Quick Bites & Great Subs

Dennis Public Market “DPM” (Dennis Village) – Old-school market with a killer deli—Boar’s Head and specialty sandwiches; open early to late. Dennis Village Mercantile “The Merc” (Dennis Village) – Café/bakery with sandwiches, breakfast, pastries, etc.; check hours (often breakfast–lunch).

Breakfast Classics

Grumpy’s (East Dennis) – Hearty breakfast & lunch, family-owned since 1991; 6A stalwart. Red Cottage (South Dennis) – Cape icon (since 1951), cash only, open 7am–2pm daily. Village Coffee Shop (Dennis Village) – Cozy, no-frills breakfast spot right in the village; good for a quick, hearty start before the beach. Seasonal hours—often weekends only in shoulder seasons—check ahead.
