How we met

A case of mistaken identity leads to...

“Wait, how do you know him?” Skye asked as Jill released her friendly embrace. “Isn’t this your friend, Mike?” Jill replied. When Jill and Chris first met each other at the Roxy, it was a case of mistaken identity! Chris, who frequented the Roxy, assumed he had been acquainted with this beautiful woman because she approached him like she knew him. And Jill, thinking Chris was the friend of Skye’s they were waiting for, locked eyes with him as he walked through the door and embraced him as a friend. “No, I’m Chris, haha." he retorted. “What’s your name?” “Jill,” she replied embarrassingly. “Well, it was nice to meet you, Jill. Have a great night!” Chris exclaimed as he walked away. They would not speak again until Chris discovered Jill on the Bumble dating app about a month later… Chris was meeting with a mentor from his church who asked him if he'd ever heard of a Proverbs 31 woman. Before he could answer, the gentleman proceeded to share a passage of scripture, “A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.” While he was reading this passage, Chris received a Bumble message from Jill. The timing was all too serendipitous and he responded with hopeful anticipation. Jill ghosted Chris for a month... When she finally reached back out, Chris was sure to ask for her phone number and set up a date for the following evening. One hour before their date, as Chris was picking up some much needed date essentials (Axe deodorant, if you must know) at the local liquor store, Jill was also picking up her pre-date essential (wine). A few dates turned into a 44 day co-quarantine with Jill's parents in LA. As they became better acquainted, each day shared was like an extended vacation! On the next trip up to LA, Chris requested Greg and Sue’s permission to marry their daughter. They were engaged July 11, 2020 on the cliffs overlooking Black's Beach in La Jolla, CA.
