Our story began as many modern romances do – with an app. Micah’s opening line, “Hey, Jil with one L,” was just clever enough for the conversation to take off. We had our first date at a wine bar in DTLA, where we spent hours chatting about our shared New England roots, our mutual love of pets (especially cats), Jil’s surprisingly impressive knowledge of Rosh Hashanah, and Micah’s passionate opinions about TV shows. At the end of the night, Micah, ever the gentleman, offered to order Jil a Lyft. She declined and insisted on walking home, basically stating, “I rely on no man, and DTLA is my town.” Classic Jil. Truthfully, Jil didn’t feel an immediate spark and told her friends she probably wouldn’t see Micah again – unless he kept it casual, like a hike. Micah wasn’t entirely sure what to make of Jil either, but curiosity won out. The next day, he texted to suggest a hike to Griffith Observatory, and here we are. Bit by bit, we fell in love over hiking trails, late-night movies, food adventures (both eating and cooking), mini road trips, breweries, and cozy evenings at home. When we moved in together, Micah brought along his longtime roommate and best friend, Alfie, who quickly became an irreplaceable member of our little family. Since then, we’ve taken some pretty big leaps together – adopting Bosco, the sweetest (and most anxious) dog you’ll ever meet; moving across the country; pursuing new careers and academic degrees; and now, planning a wedding. Through it all, we’ve built a life filled with love, sarcasm, laughter, tears, and grilled cheese movie night Saturdays. We’re so excited to celebrate this next chapter with all of you who have known us since the beginning.
