Question

What COVID-19 precautions will be in place?

Answer

In light of the evolving circumstances surrounding COVID-19, please know that your health and safety is a top priority in planning our celebration. After careful consideration, we have significantly reduced our headcount and moved our reception outdoors. Out of an abundance of caution, we're recommending that unvaccinated guests get a negative COVID-19 test in the days leading up to our wedding. It's a minor inconvenience that we hope will allow the group to more safely celebrate.

Question

How soon should I book my hotel or Airbnb?

Answer

As soon as you know that you'll be attending the wedding! June is a busy month for the island and we've been told that the hotel expects a sold-out weekend. Our room block rates are available until April 12th, but we're told will typically fill by March.

Question

When should I book my ferry?

Answer

The ferry schedule and bookings open on January 1, 2021. If you plan to bring your car with you to MV, you should book your ferry in January in order to guarantee your space. Those that are planning to walk onto the ferry as a passenger (no car) have much more flexibility. We typically make walk-on reservations in advance, but day-of tickets are also available in the ticket office at Woods Hole.

Question

Do you recommend that I bring my car?

Answer

Honestly, no! We've planned for all wedding events to occur in downtown Edgartown, so that a car truly isn't necessary. That being said, if you plan to extend your trip and want to explore more of the island, having your car will help with that. There are many taxis and rental cars available on MV as well. And if you're staying at the Harbor View Hotel (where the wedding will be), they have complimentary SUV's that guests can use for up to 3 hours.

Question

Any tips for taking the ferry?

Answer

- Plan a schedule with plenty of room for traffic (especially if you're coming on Friday or Saturday!). - If you've reserved space for your car and miss the ferry there is a standby line. Just know that it may take a few hours of waiting. - The last boat to the island runs at ~9:30pm, if you miss that then you're stuck on the Cape until the next morning! - Getting on the ferry should be the most stressful part of this weekend (and hopefully, it really isn't all that stressful 😉), but once you're on, grab a beer onboard and jumpstart the weekend's fun!

Question

Where do you recommend staying?

Answer

We're encouraging all of our guests to stay in Edgartown so that you can fully enjoy the reception and only have a short walk home. There are, of course, a number of taxi/Uber options, too.

Question

Is there transportation between the ceremony and reception?

Answer

It is a 10-minute walk from the Federated Church and the Harbor View Hotel. However, a small shuttle will be arranged for guests in need of mobile assistance. For those with a car, there is complimentary self-parking available at the reception for all wedding guests. We encourage you to park there and walk to the ceremony (a quick walk through downtown), as parking at the church is *extremely* limited.

Question

Can I bring my child, friend, or other additional guest?

Answer

If your invitation indicated "and guest", then yes! And while we love kids, we've opted for an adult-only reception.
