Kayla & Jezelle met on a college volunteering spring break trip in 2010 at the University of Minnesota. They hit it off from the start. From their love of traveling, snuggling, & hugs. Ale & Kayla met shortly thereafter. Kayla has been an integral & supportive person for Ale & Jezelle in the years following. She flew all the way from Minnesota to surprise-attend Jezelle's nursing school graduation coordinated by Ale. And she was an INTEGRAL part in the engagement planning and scheming. Kayla is currently finishing her Masters of Education at the University of Minnesota while also working full-time as an education consultant.

Javier Castellote

Best Man

Javier is Ale’s older brother. As is often the case with brothers, the two spent countless hours arguing, fighting, going to movies, being much to competitive with each other in most things, but always in good fun. From childhood Javier was always there to protect and guide Ale in tough times including during their move from Colombia. Javier and his partner, Mandy, have been ever-present in the lives of Jezelle and Ale, whether virtually or through trips to Nebraska, Minnesota, Tennessee, and Maryland. They are accompanied by their children Killian and Ariela, whom Jezelle and Ale love very dearly. Javier works for Project Harmony as a Training Specialist in Omaha, Nebraska where he lives with him and family.

Rebecca Ryan

Maid of Honor

Becca is Jezelle's cousin from South Dakota. Regardless of the distance they always make time to catch up- even after Jezelle moved to Germany. That includes leaving each other goofy voicemails with very bad hillbilly accents for each other to enjoy. And backrubs are a staple for Becca and Jezelle whenever they get together. Ale has gotten to know and love Becca over the years through family gatherings and when Jezelle comes home to South Dakota- it's safe to say they get along pretty well with each other. Becca is currently in dental school in Colorado.

Maria Cooksley

Maria is Ale’s older sister. Even though separated by some years, the two were always great friends. Spending time playing cards, watching shoes, telling made-up stories, Maria and Ale have always shared a simple interest in a good laugh. Through education and work, Maria has always been an advisor and role model for Ale. When meeting Jezelle, Maria gave her a warm welcome into the family from the beginning. Maria lives with her husband, Trent, in Omaha Nebraska along with their three children – Michael, Max and Victoria whom Jezelle and Ale love very much. Maria is a real estate agent and is currently homeschooling the little ones 😊

Savannah & Jezelle first crossed paths in middle school when they were apart of the same Improv troop & in dance together. It took a few years to become close but come Sophomore year of high school they were known in dance at the "Twin Towers." They ended up living in the same dorm at the UofM and became a daily part of each other's lives. It was there that Ale and Savannah met and discovered they both were attending the Carlson school of Business at the UofM. Crazy college parties, late night studying, to snuggling on the air mattress in T-Hall on cozy weekends, they solidified a solid group of T-Hall friends. Ale & Jezelle and Trevor & Savannah began dating around the same time & spent many double dates together. Both Ale and Jezelle were a part of Savannah & Trevors wedding in 2018.

Danica & Jezelle have been best friends almost since the day they met. Inseparable in high school & on their dance team with the Highsteppers they spent nearly every weekend in high school together. Whether it was watching classic 80's movies in Danica's basement or braving high school dances- they were always together. Danica was the friend who picked Jezelle up from the airport when Shirley passed, & helped Jezelle pack up her childhood home. Kathy, Danica's mom stepped in & helped move Jezelle back to Sioux Falls for the summer after Shirley's passing her freshman year of college. To say Danica & her family have been like family is an understatement to Jezelle- they ARE family. Danica lives in Arizona and works full-time as a Customer Experience Lead.

Mason Boutros

High school advanced placement chemistry in 2006 is when Mason & Jezelle crossed paths. They spent open lunches together eating Shirley's chicken tortilla soup & that's when Mason was inducted into the Ryan family. Mason & Jezelle spent even more time together when Mason started his nursing degree at the U of M where he also met Ale. Mason has visited Jezelle everywhere she has lived- from L.A. to Philly to Baltimore. He has been to Ryan family holiday party's & flew all the way from Minneapolis to Baltimore for the surprise engagement. He has been with Ale & Jezelle through the ups and downs of long-distance moves. He is like a brother to Jezelle and brings flavor and joy to Ale & Jezelle's life. Mason is a nurse (he most definitely inspired Jezelle) & recently moved back to Sioux Falls!

Jezelle & Amanda met on a plane going to India. Little did they know they would be friends for life! When Jezelle was sick in the hospital in India, Amanda was right be her side. It was Jezelle's turn to return the favor when Amanda landed in the same hospital in India a few weeks later to take care of Amanda. They were roommates in India & have stayed in each others lives since. Jezelle was a bridesmaid for Amanda & Kareem's wedding in 2017. Amanda & her husband Kareem live in Washington D.C. so the 4 of them got to spend a lot of time appreciating each others company when Jezelle & Ale were in Baltimore. Recently, Amanda & Kareem had a little girl, Dolly who Ale and Jezelle have had to chance to give AMPLE snuggles during their visit to Baltimore in September.

Jasmine Salem

There is no way Jezelle would have gotten through nursing school without Jasmine. They met in 2015 during their first clinical and Jezelle offered to carpool with Jasmine. Jasmine was a rock for Jezelle in school & her first year as a nurse. They spent many nights studying and drinking coffee. When they weren't studying they would "Netflix & Chill, "even then they weren't sick of each other. Jasmine, her husband Jon, Ale, Jezelle and their friend Caroline traveled to Iceland together in 2016. From birthdays to Halloweens to karaoke, they spent lots of time together. In 2019 Jezelle and Ale traveled to Norway to see Jasmine and watch her husband Jon do a half-iron man. They get along like peas in a pod.
