How We Met

College Sweethearts

We met in the first weeks of school for our undergraduate degrees in college (at the University of Minnesota). We were both good friends from the beginning, and part of a core group of people that was established from early on. Over the next couple of years, both had crushes on the other at different times. Then fate had its say and we got together right before both of our senior years. We had a little moment during our annual summer college reunion, and things took off from there!

The Proposal

Taking a Hike to get Hitched!

We went on a camping trip with our friends Mike & Kayla to Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. During the 12-mile hike the second day in the park Alejandro proposed to Jezelle at the highest point in the park! He also showed Jezelle the collage he had compiled of her family members writing "Will You Marry Me". But the surprises didn't end there. After relishing in the beautiful views, snagging some photos (thanks to our personal paparazzi Kayla & Mike) and a champagne toast, Jezelle was looking forward to settling in with a cozy campfire & some campfire food to end the day. Once back at the campsite Ale insisted he wanted to take a short drive to see the sunset. After MUCH convincing to Jezelle & shoveling chips and queso dip in their mouths (they hadn't eaten in several hours) Jezelle agreed. As Ale looked up the driving route, he realized he misinterpreted the drive time to this "secret spot" & admitted they needed to pack up their campsite. He told Jezelle that he was actually unable to book the campsite for the 2nd night. So they packed up all their things & drove to the next campsite. After groggily waking up from her car-nap Ale surprised Jezelle with another treat. Several good friends were waiting at the 2nd campsite to help celebrate. After a wonderful & fun-filled night, the crew of 9 had one last morning hike & headed home. At last! After having the most amazing weekend Jezelle was excited to relax & recover for the night with their out of town guests Mike & Kayla. Little did she know the surprises weren't over. As Jezelle opened the door to their home she found all of her family who had traveled from Boston, South Dakota & Iowa and more close friends waiting for their arrival to continue the celebration (thank you Lisa!). AND Ale had organized a small engagement party at Charm City Mead Works for everyone that night. Chicken Rico (one of their Baltimore food staples- thanks Joe!) with even more Baltimore friends!
