How We Met Each Other

2020

Yanna: One night during the first wave of the pandemic in NYC, I was listening to a podcast about “why you’re still single.” On a whim, I downloaded Tinder, and that same night, I swiped right on Jevon. We matched the next day. Jevon: I saw she went to UST, so my first message was that my Lolo went there too. Yanna: We talked for two weeks before he asked me out to the Queens Museum, on the day of a snowstorm. I almost didn’t go, but he texted me that morning saying he was getting ready. I was too shy to cancel after that. When I saw him walk up to me in the museum, everything felt so easy, like I was just reconnecting with a long-time friend.

Our First Kiss

2021

On our third date, we went to the Rubin Museum. Jevon held my hand for the first time, and we walked all the way to Chelsea Piers. It was drizzling, and we were admiring the view across the river. He leaned in and kissed me, then joked, “Did we give them a good show?” We walked back to the subway and stood there, just holding each other while a jazz band played on the platform. I remember thinking, I felt at home in his arms. It was the sweetest way to fall in love.

The first "I love you"

2021

Yanna said it first after Jevon dropped her off at her Briarwood apartment following their Montauk weekend, their first trip together. It was hard not to fall in love with the small, raw moments until you realized you were falling for your person. Jevon said it back in that moment, and the rest is history.

Moving In

2022

When Yanna’s lease was ending and Jevon’s roommate decided to move in with his girlfriend, (and NYC rent being… NYC rent), it felt like the timing was right. While Jevon was on overnight COVID ICU shifts, scrolling listings on his phone in a ziplock bag, Yanna found an apartment in Forest Hills where the broker just left the door open. We moved in… and never left.

Things We Love

THE IN BETWEEN

We’re very different and somehow perfectly aligned. Jevon loves martial arts, anime, and city pop. Yanna loves tarot, alternative music, and all things mystical. But we love learning each other’s worlds. We’re both foodies, always planning our next meal, dancing in the kitchen while cooking, or being completely goofy together. Whether we’re out on dates or staying in watching 90 Day Fiancé, it’s never boring with us.

Our Journey

THE IN BETWEEN

From slow breakfast-in-bed mornings to exploring cities, mountains, and every restaurant we can find, we’ve built a life in both the ordinary and the extraordinary. We’ve also been each other’s strength through life’s hardest moments, like loss of loved ones, long years of medical training, and growing through our own paths. Jevon was going through his long hours of medical training with residency when we started dating, and in 2023, his Rheumatology Fellowship. Yanna lost her Lolo in 2021, Lola in 2022, and Wolfie in 2023. Losing our Wolfie was one of the most difficult experiences we’ve shared. She was our baby together, but it deepened our love in ways we didn’t know were possible. In 2024, Jevon finally became an attending! But oof! Yanna started her second year of NP School! So busy! We are thankful to find someone who will help us grow in our careers, someone who will fill our cups when we are empty, and someone who will inspire us to be the best version of ourselves.

Extraordinary in the Ordinary

THE IN BETWEEN

We have endless inside jokes, spontaneous traditions, and the kind of comfort where nothing ever feels forced. Sometimes we stay up all night just talking and laughing. And even after saying goodnight, there’s still that feeling of missing each other.

The Proposal

2024

On our third anniversary, we took a trip to Monticello NY for a dome glamping getaway. Jevon woke me up that morning, saying, “I want to show you something,” holding a Golden Snitch. Jevon gave the most beautiful speech, and then asked Yanna to marry him. The night before, Jevon had a vivid dream that he had already proposed, but in the dream, Yanna asked, “Wait, you didn’t record it?” Jevon woke up, checked the ring, and made sure his iPad was recording before waking me up that morning.

The Pomsky

2025

We weren’t planning on getting a dog just yet, we had always said we’d wait until we had a house. But then we went to a Puppy Jam event in NYC… with pomskies. We met this tiny baby girl and couldn’t stop thinking about her. A few days later, we drove three hours into deep New Jersey just to see her again, she chose us, and that was it. She became our baby, Luna.

For Us, Love Looks Like...

2026

It’s dancing in the kitchen after a long day. It’s showing up for each other, always. It’s cuddling with Luna like a real wolf pack. It’s finding joy in both the smallest and biggest moments. There’s no one else we’d rather do everything, and nothing with.

Our Wedding Weekend

2026

We look forward to creating lasting memories, deepening connections, filling the dance floor, honoring those we’ve lost, sharing all their stories and ours, and gathering around endless bonfires. This weekend is not only a celebration of us, but of you and the people you love as well.
