North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum

If you are interested in North Dakota history and Native American culture, take the trolley to Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park to see the Custer House and earth lodges, visit the Heritage Center and State Museum, or stop by Five Nations Art. Mandan Rodeo Days

Spend the 4th of July in the Bismarck/Mandan area and go to the Mandan Rodeo, complete with a great firework display! Hee-haw, you can’t get any more American than that! The rodeo runs from the 2-4 of July. Medora

Head to Medora for a day or two, a tiny historic town located in the beautiful badlands, set in the Wild West time. Go horseback riding or golfing, take an old-time photo, see prairie dogs and buffalo in the Theodore Roosevelt National Park, attend the pitchfork fondue (steak cooked on a pitchfork), and finish the evening with the boot-scootin’ musical. (Wearing a cowboy hat and boots is optional, but encouraged.)
