Getting to San Marino

Specifics in each travel item on this page. But, here are some basic travel tips on how to get to San Marino.

Travel Note

A Note About Accommodations

We will not be having any sort of hotel block. Below you will find some recommendations as to where to stay. These include some hotels and Airbnb. However, these are just suggestions. If you find a place you like in San Marino Citta or the Center of Borgo Maggiore you'll be just fine. Of course, reach out to us if you have questions.

Flight

Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport

This is the closest major airport to San Marino. From here you can get a shuttle into Rimini (See separate shuttle note) You can also get a connecting bus to the closest train station and then from there you can take the train into Rimini (See Train details). The bus information for this is very accessible and available in English at the airport if you ask. Bologna is also a very beautiful city to explore. It's a bit more of a University city, and the architecture is darker than some other places. This all makes it unique and worth a walk around if you have the time.

Flight

Malpensa Airport: Milan

This airport is certainly not the closest to San Marino but, sometimes you can find better flight options (cost, less or no transfers) into this airport. From here you can rent a car if prefer or take a shuttle into Milano Centrale Railway Station where you can get a train to Rimini (See separate train note about this).

Train

Stazione Rimini / Rimini Train Station

This is the closest train station to San Marino. Whether you are coming from Bologna, Milan, or elsewhere by train you'll want to come here. There are many train options/companies. Ask us for help if you are doing this. Especially coming from Milan. Depending on where your hotel is, it's about a 30-minute bus ride into San Marino once at the train station. (See separate note about the bus) Important Note: The tickets for what they call Regional trains in Europe usually need to be validated. It's a separate step from just buying them. Usually, when you buy tickets online it's already validated because you are selecting for a specific date. But, it's best to be sure this step is complete. If you do not, then you are fined. They have automated terminals at stations where you can do this if you can't find someone who speaks English at a window. Rimini is also a fun beach town if you want to spend some time here.

Travel Note

Shuttle from Bologna Airport to Rimini

Another option from Bologna airport to Rimini is this shuttle service. Note: This is probably the easiest way to leave the airport and get to Rimini. However, the train is easier when it comes to transferring to the bus that takes you into San Marino.

Travel Note

Funivia - A Tramway from Borgo Maggiore to San Marino Citta

This is a very useful mode of transportation between Borgo Maggiore (Where Jess lives) and The city of San Marino (Where the ceremony is). This is helpful if you prefer to stay outside of the city a little bit, or if you want to just see a different part of San Marino. It's also pretty cheap and you can buy a round trip or multiple trips (usually cheaper if you buy in bulk if you plan to use again)

Hotel

Hotel Titano

31 Contrada del Collegio
Città di San Marino, 47890, San Marino
 +378 0549 991007

If you're feeling fancy they also have a separate website where they rent suites: https://www.titanosuiteshotel.com/en/ If you plan to have a car, ask about parking with the hotel since you cannot just simply street park or find a garage in the city center. That being said, there are parking options available with a fee just outside the center. But, this is why we recommend checking with the hotel for assistance.

Hotel

Hotel Joli San Marino

36/B Viale Federico D'urbino
Città di San Marino, 47890, San Marino
 +378 0549 991009

If you plan to have a car, ask about parking with the hotel since you cannot just simply street park or find a garage in the city center. That being said, there are parking options available with a fee just outside the center. But, this is why we recommend checking with the hotel for assistance.

Hotel

Hotel Cesare

7 Salita Alla Rocca
Città di San Marino, 47890, San Marino
 +378 0549 992355

All of the hotels listed (unless otherwise specified) are in the city center and walking distance to the ceremony. However, this is the closest located just down the street from the 1st tower. If you plan to have a car, ask about parking with the hotel since you cannot just simply street park or find a garage in the city center. That being said, there are parking options available with a fee just outside the center. But, this is why we recommend checking with the hotel for assistance.

Hotel

Grand Hotel

31 Viale Antonio Onofri
Città di San Marino, 47890, San Marino
 +39 0549 992400

This one is a bit more expensive than the rest. It's a nice hotel though with good views. This hotel has a parking garage if you have a car. But, be sure to ask the hotel about it to confirm if it's an additional fee or not.

Hotel

Hotel Primavera

191 Via Ventotto Luglio
Cailungo, 47893, San Marino
 +39 0549 902007

This one is further from the City center of San Marino. But, it's very close to Jess' House. It's very nice but, I wouldn't recommend this place unless you plan to have a car.

Hotel

Hotel Crocenzi

175 Via 28 Luglio
Borgo Maggiore Di RSM, 47893, Italy
 +39 0549 902507

This is more of a motel. Very basic amenities and probably cheaper than the other places listed. Again, this is only a place to consider if you plan to have a car as it is further from San Marino Citta but closer to Jess' house. The website is only in Italian. So, if you need help with the booking please let us know.

Hotel

Hotel Rosa San Marino

23 Via Lapicidi Marini
Città di San Marino, 47890, San Marino
 +378 0549 991961

Airbnb or Vrbo

Great options as well. Look for places in San Marino Citta or the Center of Borgo Maggiore. If you plan to have a car, you can widen your search a little bit. Let us know if we can help. https://www.airbnb.com/ https://www.vrbo.com/
