We’re getting married!

We are so excited to celebrate with you! Estes Park is a place that we both love and we cannot wait to spend our special day there. Aside from the main event, there are tons of things to do in and around the beautiful town, so feel free to extend your trip into a fun vacation. As July is peak season, we recommend that you book your lodging as soon as possible :)

Tom and Jess met at work in Houston, Texas in 2017. Jess was an up and coming HR Manager and Tom was a Chemical Engineer at the plastics plant. As such, their paths did not cross much at work until "Family Day" where they had both signed up to give tours of the plant. They became fast friends on the tour bus where their personalities and unique perspectives on work complemented each other perfectly to give fun & interactive tours to all of the visitors. In the following weeks, they hung out many times with their mutual friends to grab drinks and go out to eat. However, their time together was cut short as Jess had recently accepted a job to work for Google in San Francisco, so in January 2018, she relocated to the west coast. Over the following 18 months, the two stayed connected: texting and Snapchatting occasionally. Tom did not realize it at the time, but Jess actually despised this method of communication and so he didn't realize what an effort Jess was putting in to stay connected. In early June, Tom texted Jess to ask if she would ever want to catch up over the phone, and while Jess thought it was a ruse to ask for a job at Google, Tom had something much more nefarious planned... If the phone call went well, Tom would ask Jess to come to Houston to "visit her old friends" which would be good cover to take her on a date. As you're now reading this and (hopefully!) planning to attend our wedding, the phone call went QUITE well (it went so long that Tom's phone died and he had to switch to a backup). Jess was convinced to travel to Houston for a weekend, and Tom and Jess went on their first date on August 2, 2018. This kicked off a series of monthly trips for Tom to travel to San Francisco and for Jess to travel to Houston. As time went on, however, they realized that things were getting serious and for them to take their relationship to the next level, they had to be in the same place for more than just a few days at a time. So, in June 2020, Jess quit her job in San Francisco to move back to Houston where she and Tom moved into their first place together. In Houston, Tom and Jess's relationship grew stronger and stronger. They now had the opportunity to experience life together for much more than when they were dating long-distance. They spent tons of time with amazing friends, loved cooking together in their apartment, went to many concerts/shows, and found some of the best restaurants in Houston. They also found themselves regularly traveling to Colorado to get away from the Texas heat and into nature to do the outdoor activities which they loved. Once their lease was up in August 2021, they made the very difficult decision to move away from their friends in Houston to Denver where they could pursue their passions for the outdoors. Over the following few months, Tom and Jess settled into living in Colorado which meant gaining an appreciation for the local breweries and regular trips to the mountains (Estes Park in the summer and Vail/Beaver Creek/Breckenridge in the winter). It was not long before Tom started scheming again, this time to dream up the perfect proposal. He knew that Jess wanted to be surprised, so everything had to be a secret but he also wanted it to be a great reflection of their relationship. On July 23, 2022 Tom and Jess went on a hike to Chasm Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park, however in order to get there and back down before the afternoon thunderstorms, they had to wake up at 5am. The hiking itself was hard but the views were incredible and in front of Chasm Lake, Tom got down on one knee and asked Jess if she wanted to marry him! She was incredibly surprised and asked Tom "are you serious?!" approximately 30 times before finally saying yes!!
